I noticed what I could only describe as a "divot" in what I believe is called the locking block feed ramp of my used Sig p239. This gun was manufactured in 2007. I haven't noticed this in my Sig P 226's so wondering if it needs replaced. The gun fired fine, I just replaced the recoil spring. Thanks in advance.

Maybe a better picture

Totally normal. I have some similar on my .357 SIG P229.

I never noticed the divot before on other P series Sigs. Is this a factory design or over the round count does it just form?

Looks like a very deliberate manufacturing step to me.

Maybe a way of ID'ing the locking block design or maybe a hardness test dimple.  I'd be surprised if they do a hardness test on every single locking block though.

They use markings like that to identify different parts that are very similar. (Fun fact: breads at grocery store bakeries  have specific cut patterns for the same reason).

Here's a P229-40-dak locking block
