I know this topic has been beat to death a million times but I need to ask it for myself!
I currently carry a G43 IWB but half of the summer I wear gym shorts and it's not ideal. Help me pick a reliable, easy to carry pocket pistol. |
|
Ummm. The G43 is a pocket pistol. Get a Remora holster and stick it in your pocket.

Yeah I think im with the others and gym shorts lack any kind of "structure" that would make honestly any pocket carry difficult and obvious.

Get yourself a Seecamp. Entirely made of stainless steel, they are great for pocket carry. I have had a 32 ACP for a while, will be picking up a 380 soon. Keely Arms has a great price on the 380's.

I was surprised - I really like my S&W 9mm Shield for pocket carry. But I am a BIG guy 6' and 300lbs.

In gym shorts (running, gym, middle-of-project Lowes run, etc) I carry a P3AT in a cheap nylon IWB holster and just make sure the drawstring is tied. Search Amazon for the holster. An LCP ought to do fine too.

642/442 are my favorites
G43 does not carry nearly as well in a pocket as a J-Frame |

In line with icebrain. I carry either a G43, or a PPS-M2, in a AIWB, with the string pulled tight, while jogging or biking. I'm considering a http://www.smartcarry.com which I believe is like what Edgecrusher recommended. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Normally if I'm carrying the P3AT it's in a Desantis Superfly pocket holster... but normally I'm carrying something bigger. |

Kahr CM/PM9 is my choice, if I were willing to go down to 380 I'd still likely consider the Kahr 380 equivalents.

It's very easy to draw the G43 from it because 1) the fit is not too tight and 2) the design of the mouth catches on the pocket and the holster will not come out with the gun. |

If you don't mind going down to .380acp, I'd recommend looking at the RM380.
Having owned them all, and 2-4 of many of them (LCPs, P3AT, Kahrs, SIGs, etc.), I think the RM380 is the most reliable with a variety of ammo, and the smoothest and ssoftest shooter other than the bigger Glock 42. They were $220-$230 with a $50 rebate, but I think the rebate expired. Plenty of good torture tests online show just how good these guns are. I've talked to other gunsmiths (I'm more of an amateur) and been surprised how many think it's the best of the pocket "mouse-guns". I know the Galloway Precision guy loves them, though his Tyre trigger was hit and miss. |

Having a good belt is critical for IWB, but it definitely helps out for pocket carry, particularly when moving towards what would be considered "large" pocket pistols. So, I've found if I'm wearing gym shorts and need to run to the store, I can't load down my pockets with a ton of stuff and expect that little drawstring to keep it all in place. So I go minimalist at that point with an LCP and Nemesis holster. Personally, I wouldn't go any heavier in gym shorts than one of the tine .380s or maybe a very light 5 shot .38 spl. |

In gym shorts I wear my fanny pack with a G29
In khaki shorts i shove a p64 in my waistband with a tagua |

if you decide to upgrade to nylon cargo fishing shorts, take a look at the Recluse cargo model for a G42/43
|
|
Well being an old guy I wear relaxed fit jeans and a G19 or a G29 in a Remora holster disappears in a front pocket.

I have been told here many times that the G42 is eadier to pocker carry than the G43.
As others have said, for IWB just get a good holster for the G43 and wear a sturdy belt |

Good deal on PSA right now for a LCP II.
$200 shipped. Thoughts? |

Kel tec p32, 7+1 weighs only 9oz topped off. I carry mine with a trigger stop, no holster. Lightest and smallest you will find.

I just picked up a bodyguard 380 for pocket carry. It was 250 with 50 back by mail. I couldn't not buy it and I've been very happy with it.
|
|
My buddy and I both bought smith n wesson bodyguard .380's at the same time. Mine doesn't like fiottchi ammo. Other than that no problems what so ever. We were ringing steel uspsa silhouettes at 105yds with them Back and forth!
I have a vedder pocket holster that is awesome!!! A lot of people complain about the trigger. But it is basically the same as a double action revolver. Just takes practice. |
|
I can't remember if I've replied to this thread already but I'll give my opinion (again?) anyway.
I've got a LCP Custom and really like it but it's at the large end of what I can pocket carry due to my normal dress. I pocket carry much better with my Seecamp .32acp. |
|
That reminds me, there is some fun/interesting stuff on the Seecamp website, like a size comparison chart and overlay photographs comparing the Seecamps to other options. Their response to the lack of sights too. "If you hold the LWS pistol at a 45-degree angle semi-gangsta style there is a groove formed that can be used as a sighting tool."
|
|
The issue is your shorts bro. If you can't rock a 43 than nothing else is gonna work either! Buy a clip draw and attach it to the 43 or buy some regular shorts.
A fully loaded revolver for pocket carry in mesh shorts is stupid! You make one quick round about to check out beckys butt in the grocery store line and your gonna catch a revolver to the nad bag. |

Hard to beat a Beretta Pico for gym shorts. It's light, crazy thin, reliable and accurate.
For pants with bigger pockets, the Beretta Nano is smaller than the Shield and G43 which makes it, IMO, a better choice for a pocket gun. |
|
Ruger LCP is the gold standard for a reason
Seecamp 32 (or NAA Guardian 32) if you want really, really small. NAA Mini-Revolver if you want even smaller. |

Yep, basically disappears in your pocket with something like a Nemesis holster. Disclaimer- I've never even held one of the newer LCPII models, mine's the older design. this LCP2 disappears in pocket. The Bodyguard feels much larger and heavier in the pocket. Prints too. The LCP2 isn't perfect, but it make up in carry ability. View Quote |

+1 on the Keltic 32. 7 + 1 capacity. You don't even know it is there. Mine has been 100% reliable. Other than that LCP.

For pocket carry I've had several over the last decade. First was a s&w hammerless airweight, then a keltec p3at, then a LCP now have a LCP pro and about to get an LCP II. I thought the LCP pro was the shit then I shot the LCP II and was blown away. It's a huge improvement.
I use a desantes pocket holster. Only time a pocket carry is when going to and from the Gym, Dr appointment and when dressed in suit or tuxedo. Remember it's just a get the hell off me gun not a fighting gun. |
