I think I want a HK with a LEM trigger since sig has all but abandoned the P250.

My question is which models are least likely to be discontinued?  I hate to buy things and then have them discontinued where it becomes difficult to accessorize or repair.

P30 is the newest of the hammer fired 9mms. It is also a friggin beast. It is one of my favorite pistols. There was a test of it done by TLG years ago where it did exceptionally well. In less than a year it fired over 91,000 rounds.

I have pretty much every single HK 9mm except for the P9.

Choose what ever one you feel fits you best for your role, hands, and aesthetics's. The USPc,P2000,P30 are each just an ergonomic enhancement over each predecessor.

The USP full size is different than the P2000 and P30 as it uses the polymer metal lined  magazines instead of the metal bodied compact width mag bodies.

The P2000 in light LEM is a trigger I absolutely love and feel it's better than my VP9 and maybe even the USP match trigger. The USP full or compact can run the match da/sa or a LEM match hybrid that is a tad more amazing than Light LEM. Compact frame can't use the overtravel trigger shoe though.

Pretty much all of the trigger groups are interchangeable except for a few little details but all in all there the same.

Obviously the P7 is totally different but even though it has been discontinued there is a cult following for this gun. They are an acquired taste but once you realize the detail put into the engineering and feel how it shoots you will be hooked.

My favorite for carry is tied between USPc .45 or P2000 9mm light LEM with spare 15rnd P30/VP9 mag.

My deep concealment for potential sketchy areas P30sk.

My all time love, to look at and shoot but still know it's a bad mother f'er USPc and full size.

My take it out and run it hard but know it's a  classic that deserves respect is the P7.

Hands down best feeling gun but trigger isn't as good as a USP but still the same at the core is the P30.

Like I said they are all pretty much the same when it comes to hammer fired HK's. If you have any specific questions let me or the other HK diehards help you choose a lifetime pistol.

My 9mm P2000 with LEM trigger is a gun I have shot a lot over the past few months and am very pleased with. My first and so far only HK pistol and I just chose it over a USPc 9 because it was less expensive. It feels good to me carried IWB and I'll probably pony-up for a barrel to try it out suppressed as well.

Considering the quality and durability of the product you should not factor in what might be discontinued or limited production etc. the majority of the pistols I shoot and carry regularly are rather old and I have no hesitation in carrying a pistol 50+ years old. They simply do not wear out or break parts very frequently. In about 40 years of pistol shooting I can count on one hand with fingers left over how many parts I have broken in pistols, and at time I shot 20+k rounds annually

You should be fine with either the P2000, P2000sk, USPc, P30 and the P30sk. I have carried all of these at one time or another. I now carry the P30sk everyday. I shoot the P30sk just as good as my P30. I like the idea that I can use the HK P30/VP9 15 round magazines and the USPc 13 round magazines without issue in my P30sk. I use a USPc 13 round mag with a X-Grip sleeve as my primary and 2- HK P30/VP9 15 round magazines as backup.

Depends what you like.. P30 is a really nice modern HK hammer fired then the VP9 if you want a striker.  Or both they use same mags.

Im still holding out hope that the Gen 2 USP is coming out soon.

I've owned more HK's over the years than I can count.  Eventually strayed from them based on overall cost, and when I started shooting Glocks as good or better than my HK's.....

Still have an absurd appreciation for them though, I just cannot stand their non-match triggers.  I had a P30LS at one point, and the single action trigger travel was quite a bit longer than my Glocks overall travel.  The reset length of the P30 was just a touch shorter than total Glock trigger travel.

The match trigger on the other hand is a suitable trigger, and actually quite nice.

Unfortunately, HK hasn't really developed that trigger to fit in anything other than full size USP's.  The HK45 I believe got a few of the match trigger components, but not all of them, but it too is suitable.

Otherwise, LEM trigger unfortunately seems to be the way to go.

That being said, if you're not used to a striker style trigger, its entirely possible the standard trigger will be alright for you.  It just wasn't for me.

Personally, I think the P30 or VP series can't be beat. They have the best grip,in my opinion, in that you can change the width and length of the grip with the panels, which makes it very comfortable to shoot. The USP is another great pistol but the grip cannot be changed and is larger in circumference. The p2000 I owned gave me hammer bite due to the length of the tang and sold it quickly.

I'd trust ALL of them with my life, but the USP series still strikes me as the toughest SOB's of the bunch. Just a damn solid reliable pistol.

I'd get the USP.  I'm a traditionalist when it comes to HK firearms.  I had a P30L and it was a great gun (build quality, reliability, etc) but the trigger was horrendous.  Now, that was the standard trigger and not the LEM trigger.  For being a $900 handgun I found the trigger pull unacceptably bad.  It's the gun that turned me into the trigger snob I am now.  I would get the USP.  That being said, I like the sights on the P30 more and I think it feels more ergonomically pleasing in the hands.

Right now if I were to get another HK I'd get the USP Tactical 9 and leave the match trigger in. This is coming from someone who has owned an HK45C and USP Compact 9.

If you want something with LEM, I'd suggest a P2000 LEM.

I have had two P2000sk pistols, they are gone. But my USPc will never leave, just something about how it feels and shoots.

P30... just got a P30L LEM and I have to say my P30Sk LEM has a better trigger.  I hear the full size P30 LEMs need to have 1,000 rounds through them before the triggers start breaking in.  I had a P30S I sold a few years ago, that trigger was dog shit.  LEM is where it's at. Overall I'm very pleased with the P30

P2000 is still used by US Customs, which is why it's still in production.

I often carry this P2000sk with LEM. I actually prefer SA/DA, even if it isn't that great in the HKs I have tried. I wanted to try LEM, so I bought this. I like it well enough not to get rid of it, however.

They are cheaper now than when I bought this one several years ago, who knew that would happen?
