I'm thinking about getting one of these for my M9 :

boltonrail

And getting a TLR-1 or 3.  But I'm a little concerned it will push the light pretty far forward and be hard to activate the switches......

Just curious if anyone has ever tried one.

i had something similar on a previous 1911.
it worked well

you'll have to make a custom holster if you need one.

I haven't tried the Beretta, I did try the Surefire on my P226 for a handgun class, not exactly the best thing since sliced bread.

I tried the SF offering too, on one of my 1911's: My experience mirrors yours, and led me to getting a railed 1911

I would skip the made in China one and look for a surefire one. It's not ideal but it is solid. I keep one on my 92fs for night stand duty.

I also keep it in a universal safarifland holster. 3082 maybe?

I'll try to get some comparison pics up later

Do you reach the controls fine?  I guess it will depend on hand size / finger length.   But I'm curious how it works for you.

I'm not so worried about holsters....  My G26 is my carry gun.  This would be for a dedicated nightstand HD M9.

I am also thinking about the TLR-6 for my G26 but one of the thing that bugs me about that set up is that here again I don' think I'll be able to reach that right side button with my firing hand.  And one guy was saying how it might be easy to be reaching for it, not be able to get it and end up letting your trigger finger pull back onto the trigger.  I could see how that might be a problem under stress.

But that is the same big question I have for a bolt on rail for my M9......

Only handgun I have with a rail is an XD 45 and I can't shoot it for crap compared to my 9mm guns.  Booooooooooo.....  I suppose I could practice more with it......

2nd pic bottom gun, does that have a normal trigger guard where it's scooped?  It almost makes it look like the older style, rounded.

I'm not sure what gun the TLR6 is on the bottom pic.  But I'm guessing it's a single stack.  I'm worried about the G26 making it harder to do.

You don't have to shift your grip at all, eh?

Thanks for the pics!!!!  I'll look up the surefire rail.  I'm understanding you to say that's what the one is on the bottom gun in the second pic.

ETA:  I just checked, my trigger finger only goes right to the front of the trigger guard.  Maybe a 1/16 past it (if that) without breaking a grip.  You have longer fingers than I do.  I would either have to break my grip if I wanted to use my firing hand, or just know I'm only going to use my left hand to activate the light.

The 92fs has the standard squared guard.

I wear medium gloves fwiw and don't need to break my grip to activate the light. I typically use my support thumb to push forward when shooting but if I used my trigger finger it reaches fine. It's not ideal but I don't notice it much.

It's a kahrcw9 so yeah, a single stack.

Thanks guys.   I can't quite tell if mine would work or not.  It's probably fine if I just use my support hand anyways... But I guess it's a good thing to be able to do it with your trigger finger in case you need to.  Someone suggested to me the Inforce one might have a bit different controls to see if that might work better.....   I never quite understood how that one works by just looking at it and never fondled one.....

I put a tlr6 on my 1911 that didnt have a rail.  So far so good.  $100 was better than buying a new .45 with a rail AND a light/laser $900-1000.

I wonder if it would fit on a HiPower.....  I forget if they made one for the HiPower.  I'm going to check it out.  I don't have any more 1911's....

I would love to see pics of that, if you are willing.  Can your reach the trigger finger side button with your trigger finger without moving your grip?

A lot of guys I work with use the 92 with the SureFire rail, X300 and DG switch. It's a good combination.

Oh really?  That's good to know.  I keep debating on it.  I keep thinking I'll have to break my grip to activate with either hand.  Would be nice to try it out before buying.

If you are going to use the MR-11 Surefire rail you can use the  DG-16 remote switch with any X series light.

I use the MR-07 rail on a 1911 with an x300 or x400 IRv and a DG-17 switch and like it.
