Thinking of getting several boxes of 124G standard velocity since they are cheap now, any issues? I heard some folks have problems with 147G because of OAL.

I use the 124g HST's in my P-01. The one time I shot them (maybe 20 rounds) I had no issues. I don't have the money right now to shoot as much of my defense ammo as I should.

Bump for interest. I am about to pick up a SP01 and had wanted to stoke it with 147 HST. So I am interested in what others have to
say as well.

You shouldn't have any trouble with the HSTs.

This in my 75BD and SP01Tact.  I do not think their is a difference in OAL between the 147 and 124 the bullet is set deeper in the case is all.

I am very happy to hear 147 HST work fine.
I love 124 Speer Gold Dots but had wanted to switch over to the 147 HST for a while now.

SG Ammo just got the 147 HST back in stock. I ordered some yesterday and will test them in the SP01 as soon as I have a chance.

CZ uses a fairly fast twist that is ideal for heavier bullets.  Not sure why anyone would think that 147s would be a problem.

Never had a problem with any 147 in my wife's CZ-85

I have ran Federal HST's in 147grain out of my P-01 and SP-01 since I got them. No problems, very accurate, low recoil, good accuracy. I also run GD's and Golden Sabres in 147grain as well with good results; all standard pressure without fail. The CZ platform will run just about any quality ammo and even shitty steel case surplus from my experience as long as good factory CZ or Mec-Gar mags, (Mec-Gar makes all CZ's factory mags as well) are used!

It's not because of the twist it's because CZ's are usually shorter in the leade area and the 147 gr. in certain profiles is long enough to hit there causing bullet setback and possible high pressure when the slide slams forward. A lot of competitors get their barrels reamed to be able to use certain 147's if they bottom out.

It is recommended to take the barrel out of the slide and perform the plunk test before using them. If they pass you're good to go. For what it's worth my P-09, P-07 and Shadow 2 all passed with 147 HST's without anything needing to be done. Those 3 models have nitride barrels if I'm not mistaken and are a bitch to ream if needed. I hear most shops won't do nitrided barrels.
