Is the grip just as wide as a Glock 21? I've been debating between an XD in 45GAP and 45ACP. I would prefer a 45ACP for obvious reasons, but if the grip is just as bad as a Glock 21, I can see how a 45GAP could fill my needs.

Lots skinnier than a G21, go to the Springfield website and see for yourself.

Didn't think of checking out Springfield's web site. It does look skinnier. Heck, I'm going to go with 45acp. After buying a few boxes of 45gap, my initial savings by purchasing an XD 45gap is out the window. Thanks.

I handled one today, the grip is also longer than the XD40, makes it feel out of whack to me..

I thought the same thing. I was Sooooo fired up about this when I first found out about it, but now that I have hangled one, I took a pass. This is not a pistol for people with short fingers...

I've got a 45 and a couple 9's. The grip feels the same except the 45 is about a 1/4" longer. It is perfect for me. It feels much better than the Glock 21.

I went to the store and looked at one today and the grip did feel a little squared off on the front but not to bad. To me the 21 feels a little better but a lot bigger. The XD grip is a lot smaller than the 21 I thought and I may end up getting the XD intstead because of the size. I want a hi cap .45 for carry and the XD .45 seems to be about the right size for me. I would rather have the grip a little longer than have my pinky hanging in mid air like on the small Glocks. 13rds of .45 in a package that size is fairly nifty indeed.

The grip is just fine, buy the XD 45 acp, not the gap.

+1

the grip is a few 1/100ths of an inch bigger around, maybe .25" longer than the 9mm/.40. It feels no different in my hands and my hands are pretty small and stubby. It's very comfortable for me to shoot and hang onto.

I too was fired up to get the 45ACP until I handled one, I will stay with my XD40 which is the finest natural grip I have had other than my 1911's of course

"Feel" is such an individually subjective thing, I'll have to go wrap my fingers around one for myself.

XD 40 & 1911's-you're a gun gourmet. Just bought an HK P2000 & XD 45acp-very nice grips & feel.

I finally picked up my XD-45acp today, and i love it....The grip fits my hands perfectly. It somewhat remids me of a 1911 grip in a way. It shoots very well and seems to be quite accurate so far. Grip doesnt feel much different than the grip on an XD-40, but thats just me.

Good to hear your range report. Just bought mine, but work has been delaying the initial warm-up. What ammo have you been using?

I handeled one today, and have to say that the grip is excellent! I have small hands and have never liked the G20 and 21 due to the grip size. Glad I ordered the XD.

I held the XD 45acp today. I've got small hands, also, and the grip was perfect.

I gripped one today for the first time - ordered one. Better feel and natural point of aim than my USP .45 T
