Welcome to the XD club!  You'll love it, but go easy on the finish, it seems to be the only thing wrong with the XD's IMO.

Glenns, are those lead reloads in your picture or factory lead?  Reason I ask is because I'm trying to find a factory lead load (for shooting at an indoor range).  thanks.

This is the only reason I didnt buy another glock, cant shoot lead bullets through the factory barrel. Also the unsupported chamber.I am planning to shoot a few IPSC matchs this spring and summer, and practice with factory fmj gets expensive after a while.

I love my XD40, have gone to the range a few times and it eats any 40 you feed it from the $5.00 a
box stuff to the $18.00 stuff, and its a dream to clean

I bought a bi-tone 4" XD40 and it has been a jam-a-matic.  This gun fits my hand like a glove.  It points and shoots great.  It throws the lead dead-on where you want it, but it stovepipes something awful.  I've used both white box Winchester 165gr FMJ-FN and UMC 180gr FMJ.  The Winchesters gave me problems at the beginning, but by about the 125rd count it started feeding reliably.  The UMC stuff on the other hand does not agree with my gun.  It jams on average, two times with each full mag.  I have about 500rds thru the gun and would have thought the gun is broken in by now.  I alternate with all three of my mags and get the same result, so it's not a mag issue.  I've contacted Springfield and they said they will fix it for me for free, minus the shipping costs.  What a bummer!  My brothers 4" XD9 has not misfired once.  Hope I didn't get stuck with a lemon.

Just send it back to them.  I've sent my compact 45 twice to them for a couple of miner issues.  If you will include the receipt for shipping in the box with a note, they will send you a check for the shipping that you paid.  These folks are great to do business with.  I just bought a XD40 sub compact that works great.  Send it back and have them take a look at it.  Turn around isn't but a couple of weeks.  Really not a big deal!

I don't know why your gun is jaming. I put 3000 round thru mine in 9 months last year. But after the first 30 it stopped.

Try TETRA GUN LUBE.

I've had my Stainless XD-40 for two years now and put I don't know how many rounds through it. Flawless in every way! I might be selling it soon to finance a Kimber project but that will only happen after MUCH thought and a little temporary insanity.

Enjoy!!!

I've not had this problem with any of my other pistols, with the exception of my 1927 Argentine 45ACP.  I had a gunsmith work on it and it has not  jammed since.   That was probably 5000 rounds ago.   I was lucky up till now.  Nevertheless, I've sent it to Springfield and they will take care of the problem.
