Just shoutin' out to the rest of us out there...

Just got a Springfield, excited as hell over it, got pics taken and will post them as soon as I get a chance!

What other handguns you Springfield owners have out there? I'm looking to jump start my pistol buying shortly... figure I'll at least pick up a Glock, Sig, and something for the wife...

Just got one last month and havnt had a chance to try it out yet, hopefully this weekend. My new SA is my only auto handgun except for my MK2, I love this gun but I dont think it will replace my revolvers, there just isnt anything like .44 mag and .454, I hope to add a .480 Ruger sometime in the next year.

Carry a NightEyes LtWt 45 Compact,stock except for trigger work.
Have two full size worked on guns the kids learned with.

Loaded Champion in matte here. Really impressed by the fit and finish of it, though I need to get the extractor tuned because it will leave a case in the chamber ever once and a while. To often to be carrying anyway. Once that is ironed out it'll be in a Milt Sparks CC-AT daily with a full load of CorBons!

My favorite pistol is my Springfield 1911 TRP stainless with 8 round wilson mags. It's a combination made in heaven. It's had a couple thousand rounds through it without a single problem or jam. I can shoot it more accurately than any of the Sigs, Glocks, or HK's I have. I just sold off 2 Glocks to buy another TRP.

I'm a former SA owner. Had a 2000 Mil-Spec with Novak sights, commander hammer and grip safety (a gunshop special order, I didn't know it at teh time) and 2001 SS Loaded.

I used the SS and a few other guns as trade-in's for my Wilson CQB (no cash) at my local dealer. Even covered the taxes and got some ammo and a Glock t-shirt for the wife.

I used the Mil-Spec as a partial trade with a post Ban Bushy for a preban Oly CAR-15. Again, no cash( thanks I love 2 Shoot and GarryOwen).

But would I own another?? Sure would. Didn't have a problem with either of 'em. They both were more reliable than my Kimber ProCarry.

Anyone ever own or shoot the 10mm Omega made by Springfield? It has a long slide with ported barrel and can be switched to .45 with another barrel and clips. They are not sold anymore, but it is one of the most accurate out of the box guns I have ever shot.

I got one. The gun is great and shoots good but I hate the feel and the finish of it. It's a parkerized loaded model. I wanted to buy the stainless but the gunshop was out and I wasn't leaving without a gun.

Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911-A1 upgraded with Trijicon night sights, Wilson Combat beavertail grip safety, McCormick combat hammer, 18 lb. Wolff spring, Wilson Combat checkered frontstrap and double diamond walnut grips.

Reliability package done by Dave Lawver, one of American Handgunner's Top 100 pistolsmiths, includes feed ramp polished, extractor tuned, firing pin hole deburred, trigger job, etc.

It's a great shooter and feeds anything I put through it.

SA 1911 loaded,blued finish.

Initially, the two-piece guide rod came loose after the first few rds(nothing a little silicone tape didn't fix)

The rear site came loose(same fix as above)

After 300 or so rds it has become quite the shooter.

Very happy with it.

2 trigger fingers way up!!

i bought a 1911a1 milspec used for $375 2 yrs ago. added dropin beavertail grip safety, extended slide release, hogue grips. runs like a champ, but i've had to fix the plunger tube and front sight. doesn't like anything but ball.

can't imagine a more satisfying handful than ol' slabsides.

Springfield M1911 .45 Bar sto, ed brown beavertail and hammer, videki trigger, hand cut checkering on frontstrap and mainspring housing, novak bar dot night sites. My favorite firearm ever. More reliable than a hammer will feed large rocks and empty cases all day long. Best pistol I've ever owned. Purchased in 1992. Bought Glock 22 in 1993 sold in 3 months, hated it compared to my SA, felt better with .357 revolver as a duty gun. Now own a Sig P220 for duty, Hate it too when compared to my SA. NEVER EVER will I give up my M1911, bury me with it!

I too have the mil-spec 1911 but mine is kind of odd. The serial number starts with NM which I've only seen on the high end National Match pistols. My front bushing is silver colored rather than blue like I've seen on other mil-spec pistols.

I've put in my own trigger, spring kit, grips and grip screws since I've had it.

My pistol started life as a mil spec pistol and also bears NM 76XXX as the serial number. My bushing was however the parkerized mil spec. My magazines also were marked with NM.

Being a geezer, I go back to when they were made with two piece barrels, which worked fine. Had a few more in between, all did as advertised. Now comes the problem...looking at the picture on page 16 in the latest Handguns magazine, January 2002, (as they are bragging on the fit and finish)...it aint finished! Besides the metal in front of the grip area not being rounded enough, the same can be said about the dust cover area, way too square! Then note the drag marks on the front of the slide, which is more common on the sloppy GI models. My opinion, I would pass on this one...or am I being too darn picky? (There are other pictures of other makes in that issue to compare to) [:\] But anyway, mine is the older parkerized, Geneseo model with the Centaur bbl. system and comp. Adjustable w/o sights from Pachmayr adorn the slide. The extra "meat" on the dust cover would be handy for a scope mount.

I've got a Springfield Custom Loaded 1911-A1, parkerized with the rosewood grips. Aside from my Bushmaster M17s, my SA1911 is my favorite gun.

I have a SA1911 "Loaded" that I bought about 18 months ago. I love it! My problem is that I do not like the sights that came with the gun and until recently I did not know how much I did not like them. I am looking for some low profile sights. ANy suggestions?

Bringing this one BTT...

AFAIK, Armory Kote is Springfield's proprietary teflon finish. I don't know how it holds up in the long run but I've never heard any complaints.

Paul and Mr45auto, your posts regarding the NM marking on the frame got my curiosity piqued. My Mil Spec has NM in front of the serial number too: NM 32XXX. I was wondering if your Springfields were made in Brazil? Mine wasn't. I would be curious to know if they dropped the NM marking after they started making them in Brazil.

I just bought a XD-40 pistol. Does this count as a Springfield Armory in your book. I love everything about this pistol but the fact that it was made in Croatia. I like it better than my glock 30 and just as much as my p-99.

I picked up a used SA1911A1 this weekend in good condition with a "nm97xxx..." serial number also. I am curious too as to what this means. Is it "national match" as in the frame? Or is it something different?

AR15-LS1, yeah it's a Springfield. Not a 1911 but it's a Springfield.

I wouldn't worry about it being made in Croatia. They do have the latest CNC and CAD/CAM technology over there. Jeez, the way I've heard some people talk, they think Croatia is like some third world country or something.

Big Bear, no there is no "made in Brazil" stamped anywhere on the gun.

Things that are stamped on the gun:
-frame right side: number, manufacturer, location, etc.
-slide right side: logo that says sprinfield 1975. Is that the company date or the production date?
-slide left side: "1911 A1"
-top of chamber: "Sprinfield .45 Auto"

It has an arched main spring housing and what looks to be a two-piece bbl (it seems to shoot accuratley so far). The hammer and grip safety are the old style: spur and non-beavertail respectively. It came with some houge grips and I talked the guy into including a set of hardwood double diamond checkered grips for free.

Since it is used after all, it has a few wear marks on the finish but is a tight gun and looks well maintained. I had to tweak the extractor just a little bit though( it didn't have quite enough tension).

It has digested both FMJ and HP's with equally ravenous appetite h
Also, are the mec-gar mags considered good? I know everyone yaks about the wilson 47d's being the best, I just wanna know if these need to be replaced with something of higher quality or if they are good quality.

That is enough for one post I think.

I got a Springfield, me too! Just got my new GREEN SA M1911A1 "Loaded" model yesterday! Only fired one box of UMC so far, but after the year's first highpower match tomorrow I am going to wear out the plates and pins in the pistol bay!

Fine shooter, no complaints other than my distaste for stainless.

Currently own the 1911 "loaded" blued in the Government model...great secondary pistol (to my Les Baer).

Owned a Ultra Compact hi-capacity with the V-10 ported barrel. Nice little gun, very controllable. However, I sold it (VERY RARE for me to do with any gun) because the double-stacked .45 was a bit too wide for my medium-sized hand, and because the shorter barrel actually was a lot less comfortable to carry than the full-sized Government.

Plan on owning more Springfields...hopefully a 9mm 1911 too!

I HAVE A LOADED IN .45 AND HAVE 6 MAGS FOR IT. 1 8 ROUND, 4 7 ROUND, AND 1 10 ROUND. I HAVE THE ADJ SITE VERSION. I LOVE IT. I AM GOING TO ADD A BROWNING BDA TO MY COLLECTION. I ALSO HAVE A CEINER .22 CONVERSION FOR MY SPRINGFIELD AND LOVE IT. I HAVE INSTALLED A SPRINCO RECOIL REDUCER ON THE .45 AND ITS GREAT.

I have myself a 1911 A1 Stainless Loaded. Very sweet pistol. I ended up buying it from my buddy (45srock), instead of spending a couple hundred more on a Kimber. I'm sure I would have ended up happy if I did get one of them.

I'm not dissapointed with the Springfield at all. It will probably shoot better than I will! I intend to tweak a few things... lighter mainspring to lighten the trigger pull, smooth panels and hex screws, a thinner safety (the stock extended safety is pretty wide, but works well) and maybe throw in an extended slide release.
It's mostly a shooter, but will be carried part time, when conditions and clothing permit. I picked up a Don Hume IWB holster at the last funshow that works well.

I have a Mil-Spec and Loaded Stainless Target. The trigger on the mil-spec feels better to me. I was a bit suprised to find a titanium firing pin in the mil-spec.

I just bought a Mil-Spec Ultra Compact yesterday, haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, but the fit and finish is great.
