Surprisingly not bad, it wouldn't surprise me if this one had a spring kit installed already (bought it used).  It could be that it's been used enough to smooth in, but I'm not sure I remember the DA being this light on new ones when I worked a counter a number of years ago.

I just picked it up yesterday, hoping to get it to the range this weekend to make sure it works properly.

Love those Wiley Clapp GP100’s!
Stopped bidding on one last year when it got past my pre-set limit.
Regretting decision ever since. 😥

Just a couple of pictures with this SP101 wearing some new shoes--Cocobolo Hogue checkered finger groove grips.  I can't wait to shoot it; it feels like a smaller version of my TRR8 (which wears the correspondingly similar grips), and should be great for cheaper training.

Ran into the local Ace Hardware yesterday to grab some spray paint and had to check the gun counter. Left with my spray paint and this!

19-3 in really nice shape except for being filthy. Gun counter guy said it had been traded in the day before. Has new crappy grips grips but that's an easy fix. Doesn't look like it's been shot much at all and only some very slight holster wear on the front of the barrel.

Thanks. I've seen pics over the years, but never knew the operation. Pretty neat design, that never got fleshed out enough to be a functional improvement over traditional revolvers.

Grips are original and still have the hand-written in pencil serial number on the underside of the grip panel.

You could barely get the cylinder to swing open when I first got it, but after removing the crane arm, I found the hole was filled with congealed oil or cosmoline. It works smoothly now after cleaning. The action is magnificent on this, like all of the other early Smiths I have handled.

My factory letter arrived. Shipped April 14, 1914 to William H. Hoegee in Los Angeles, CA. Wm. H. Hoegee & Co. was a quite large and famous sporting goods store on the West coast at the time.
