From my understanding, they did make like... 2 of those.

I have seen one for sale, and it was so expensive as to be just a curio. I wish they would bring back the Night Guards. It would be a lot easier to put a red dot on a pre-drilled gun like that.

Saw the new RIA imported Czech 9x19mm revolver today.  Looks pretty nice, didn't get to try the trigger.

That’s a great price for a great revolver. Unfortunately, I’m trying to send my 92 to Langdon and save for a .300 RUM, so another revolver is off the table for me now.

Nice T-Grip on that J frame...though it looks to be for a square butt K frame.

A round butt J frame T-Grip would look like this:

That lovely group is 12 rounds at 12 yards from an admittedly dirty gun.  Factory 38 special.  The target was the rings low left.  Spent the day chasing my zero and ran out of dots and drew one with dirty brass

Full disclosure- I haven't had a chance to reach out to S&W yet.

Damn, that sucks. My buddy has one. I think they're typically great guns.

Im not too worried about it.  The gun is terrific by all other metrics (except the factory grips).  I suspect this is a doable fix.

Its odd to me that there is rifling after the comp.  that part has me scratching my head and may be an issue, but that seems like it's on these guns and I haven't heard of this at all.  Beyond that, the Performance Center is better at building revolvers than I am

No free rides and what I was working on tonight.

yep, that is just about the face I made.

When I was shooting the 38s were making some big ol' holes at that point, and because I'm dumb I just thought it was awesome.  Got to the target and flattened the paper back out only to see that bullets-going-sideways stamp.

I'll admit, I felt WAY better about my poor shooting.  Ok groups if you don't count the keyholes

Just as follow up regarding the 19 carry comp.

I talked to S&W this morning and they said it's an ammo issue.  Only to be used with domestically produced ammunition.

The group pictured was Magtech LRN.

Norma groups better out of most of my revolvers than does any domestic load.

My little project revolver.  Started out as a 1915 Colt Police Positive .32 S&W Long with a 4" barrel I inherited years ago from my grandfather.  It was kept in their camper years ago.  The gun was a bit rusted and pitted but not too far gone.  Chopped barrel to 2" and re-installed original sight.  Stripped the gun down, removed bluing, blasted, cold-blued and reassembled.  The crane, cylinder, and cylinder release where left in original bluing.  Set of new grips and this is what I am left with.  Turned out as a nice little package...and LGS actual has a decent supply of ammo for it.

felt the same but S&W is was right...?

took it out today with 38 special Winchester White Box and Browning FMJs and it did fine, shot great even.

I just think this gun and lead/foreign ammo just aren't gonna get along, which is seriously unfortunate, especially these days.

The comp is rifled, and while VERY effective, I think that's the issue.

Nice, early enough not to have the warning billboard on the barrel. I’ve always liked the contrast of of a silver or brass grip frame on a blued gun.

I need to get some new pics of my 3 screw 357 flat top.

I've been toying with doing that to my SS version of your same gun.

How hard was it?  Cost?  Where did you get the parts?  Did you do it yourself, or send it out?
Link Posted: 2/1/2021 1:42:15 AM EDT
[Last Edit: mpmax] [#40]
You can get all the parts- hammer/trigger & grip frame between Midway & Brownells.  The grip frame will need to be filed to fit, they come in stainless and steel in the white.   The castings are rough sometimes.  If you’re handy you could likely do it and not ef’ it up.  I had my local gunsmith fit it because I wanted it polished.
Gunsmithing $180
Parts. $160
So about a $300 plus job, or less if you fit and finish.
Ruger Blackhawks are easy to work on (thank you tube), this was my 3rd conversion, it came with the power custom hammer/trigger.  I’d go with the stock Bisley hammer trigger, they are way cheaper.

If you are interested in swapping grip frame, trigger or hammer, check out RDW. It's expensive, but Ronnie can make any combo you want, from brass, steel or aluminum.

You know... The tlr-7 doesn't look that out of place. That mrds looks to high though I know that has the mount on the barrel but the lower mounts that fit the rear sight mount may look a little better.

Or I wonder if you could have the picitiny rail milled for a direct mount.

The RDS does look quite a bit high, but I like the LaRue QD mounts, and I like the idea of eventually being able to de-bolt it all and have a much lighter/better balanced package with the stock irons.  But a gunsmith friend of mine zeroed it out already.

I still need to get it out and shoot it, but I only recently picked it up.  I've wanted one of these since I first laid hands on one.

Half tempted to get a 'smith I know to install night sights front and rear.

Well, if you go that route try meprolight for the front and c&s for the rear. Or Hamilton's rough country if you want adjustable.
