I'm not opposed to bobbed hammers but really haven't seen the need. I've been carrying revolvers aiwb for the past year and 1911s for years and never snagged on the draw. Even if I had I'd either tear my shirt or push the gun out.

Pocket guns sure.

629 V-Comp 4" barrel. Love it, addicting to shoot. The Pachmayr grip works well; no hand fatigue and no bleeding after 50 rounds of 240gr .44mag.

I do have to double up on earpro when shooting indoors.

Yes, but it looks right on such a pistol and the hammer is a needless appendage if it is never cocked for single action shooting.

I did it once before, long ago.

The single action sear was cut off as well.

I always check function by cocking the holster slightly then rotating the cylinder before I holster.

Checks for high primers or cases that didn't seat.

I also might want to take a head shot on a grouse.

I've gotten to where I shoot the same in single or double action modes...so I've completely stopped using the former.

On your ammo check I prefer to do that before the cylinder is closed.

I actually shot the arfcom 25moa challenge DA with the 66 but still prefer SA for tiny targets. That being said. I have shot so much double action in the last year I may try to stay DA this fall/winter in the woods and go from there.

If you had to choose between the Model 60 and SP101, which would you choose?  I’ve been thinking of picking up a 3” .357 and would be interested in hearing your opinion.

Man that would be a tough call, and I've only had the Model 60 for about 3 days lol.  I think the model 60 feels a little easier to shoot recoil wise.  The SP101 will handle hotter magnum loads though, so I guess it's up to you and what you're primary intent is with it.  Either one is a great choice and I don't think you could go wrong if you chose either one.  Although I like shooting the Model 60 more, if you told me I could only keep one of the two it would be the SP101.  The way that thing is built it will be around long after my grandkids are gone.

Thanks man.  Sounds like I can’t go wrong between the two.  Do you think the SP101 is any less accurate due to the lack of a decent rear sight?
Link Posted: 6/20/2019 3:55:32 PM EDT
[#22]
The SP101 has a decent rear sight. It's just fixed and not adjustable. It is also much less susceptible to damage, which is important on a carry piece.

My only serious revolver. A Smith Model 28 Highway Patrolman .357 Magnum. Serial search puts it at 40 years old, manufactured in 1979. I picked it up from a LGS about a month ago.

It came to me with these gawdawful laminate grips:

I passed it by in the store several times because of those grips before the siren song finally got the better of me. I've since replaced them with these equally ugly but much more functional Houges:

Just the usual. Theres not a lot of snakes around here to worry about and even if there was; at the distance I would be concerned enough about them I'd just as soon have my normal load

I'm waiting for a holster for the 66-8. I accidentally had it sent to the ex's residence...who sent it back to Turkey I'm not sure I can wait two months to get it. I may just order a 3" K frame Desantis.

The Turkish guy's handle is "tickdong," which is a bit weird, but I like how the holster secures over the grip, rather than the non existent hammer spur.
