Stupid question, I know. But I'm not a wheel gun guy.

Can you shoot .38 SPL's in a S&W model 60 chambered for .357 mag?

Absolutely, it's standard practice. Just be aware that the point of impact will be lower with .38 than .357 due to the decreased power.

If you shoot a lot of .38, you'll have to scrub the cylinders clean before loading .357, other than that, happy shooting!!

In fact I wouldn't even bother shooting mags in a J frame Smith,  It is not an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon.
