I thought S&W discontinued the Model 29.

They did. This is a limited run, special edition.

The impression presented in the gun mags is they have reintroduced it; that it is more than just a limited run SE.

Cheers

Anything blued seems to be limited run special production stuff now.

One year it's M25s in 45ACP, the next year it's M29s, then it's M25s in 45LC, then something else.

Won't buy one until they stop gold plating the hell out of everything, I don't want "MOUNTAIN GUN" in ugly assed gold laser engraved gold on my damn gun.

What they do need to do is a special run of 10mm Auto chambered N-frames that are blued. The 610 is the one gun that doesn't have a blued sibling and if they built it right I'd buy one even if it wasn't P&R.

I didn't think I would say this but that is one ugly Model 29...

I presume it has the "lock"....which reduces it's value to me by $100 right out of the gate.

Update: I saw a new non-anniversary M29 today at a gunshow and it was $600.

Cheers

There is NOTHING special about it.

S&W thinks if they say the word SPECIAL, people will want one.

Make it an L-frame & I'll say-
+1

Davidson's prices are outrageous. They are usually 10% higher wholesale wise over the wholesalers I deal with. My retail price would be around a third less. Not trying to sell anything, just giving my opinion.
