Anyone have a 42-2.  What are your thoughts on having a grip safety on a revolver? Is it any better than a no lock 642 or 442?

Regards

Seems rather unnecessary to me, especially on a double action only revolver.  You can still get new 642 and 442 without the lock.

If you can get one at a good ( comparable to a current production no lock gun I price) deal then I would jump on it. As I understand it there is a pin that can be used to lock the grip safety down if you don't want to use it.
