I will let you guys have a vote . I found a pretty nice 64-5 4 inch with the original wood grips , box paperwork and no tools . $350 out the door . I di not try hard to beat him up so there may be a little room in it .  I have 3 model 10's already

Fair price, if you want one that would not be over paying for it IMHO.  If you can talk him down 25-50 buck then it turns into a deal.

These days pretty much any K-frame S&W revolver in good shape is worth $350. Finish challenged police turn-ins are selling fast for $300-325. One in the shape you describe is a $350-400 gun.

I'd have to say this.  Not really into the .38 only revolvers, but I haven't seen a s&w revolver that's pre-lock in reasonably good condition that's lost value.

I will grab it on Monday

I agree with this.

The pre lock smiths will not go down in value. I'm not crazy about 38 special but then again that's all I shoot put of my model 66 anymore anyway, and that price is much less than what I paid for it.

You wanna get rid of any of your 10's to help you out with this one?  Got any round butt 3"ers  that you don't care to keep?  I'll trade you a G26, possibly.  You don't NEED all them K frames.

I just had this done to one of mine:

You should buy it at that price, I'll be happy to help you get the conversion done, or sell it to me for a $25 profit.

About 5 or 6 years ago a local police supply/gun shop was selling used ones for $300 - or $250 if you bought two or more.  I bought 2.  Awesome little revolvers.  Nickle sized shot groups for 5 rounds at 7 or 8 yds. off hand.  I gave them away (youngest son and nephew) for snake guns.  I loaded up 3 or 4 boxes of snake loads with the CCI/Speer shot capsules and recommended they carry those guns when out in the woods on their property.

Sweet triggers on those well used guns.  Oh, bought speed loaders and pouches for them, too.  Six shot shells in the gun and two speed loaders of 158 grain LSWC in the pouches.

I wish I'd bought 3 so I still had one.  Hard to beat the triggers on those guns.

FO. My 64-5 is an absolute tack driver. I think I paid $290 OTD. It's accompanied me on many fishing and hunting trips.

Southern Ohio Gun has Model 64 Smiths every day for $339. This week they're $10 cheaper with free shipping. I'd say $350 is no great deal. The only plus side is that you get to examine the gun you're getting as opposed to taking whatever an online seller ships you.

If you have more than one revolver and don't already have a .38Spl, of course you should buy it. It's a fair deal. If you are only going to have one revolver, make it a .357 Mag. A model 65 can be had for about the same money.

I have one 3 inch model 10 . That was a hard find and I had to pay top dollar for it and shipping . A 5 inch would be next on the list.

Something about 3 and 5"ers that is so right.  On the Smith and Wesson forum this dude posted a 5" pre model 10 K frame he got when someone in his family died.  It is really nice.  I think this might be a 5"er too:

You got pics of your 3"er?

No , The SOG guns almost all are newer like -10 guns and some are lock guns . They almost all have rubber grips and no box.

Beautiful! Love that snubbie.

I've got a 10-6. My only model 10 right now. Sorry for the shitty pic, it has beautiful case coloring.

I got lucky on the 3 inch gun . It was a random find while I was on a road trip . I bought it and paid to have it shipped to my FFL due to it taking me so long to find a 3 inch . Plus it is nice . The snub is pinned and has some holster wear . It is a great shooter
