I have a friend that inherited one. Want to make sure we won't kill ourselves if we try to shoot it.

Is there a modern load that will work in the gun? He's not looking to go to war with it, but wants to plink with it.

The safety on that is weird as hell.

Donnelly's Cartridge Conversions it lists 1 load for the 10.6. A 262 gr lead bullet with 5.0 grs of Bullseye. Uses a .44 case cut down to .960 with a COL of 1.210. Cartridges of the World shows the factory BP load has a velocity of 700 fps with a 262gr lead bullet.

German forums suggest:
- don't use modern (NC) powders, go BLACK
- .44 S&W Russian Starline cases being recommended, case length .96 as stated by coastie
- 200 grs lead @ .427/.428 dia as opposed to the heavier, original bullet
- .44 S&W Russian BP loads for that bullet weight can be used
