I'm the guy who asked about the melt.  The new one definetly has more than mine.  Since I have to send it back to Kimber anyway maybe they will melt mine when they refinish it.

Great report, thanks for the info.

Now I am wondering which one I've bought.... it's sitting in Texas, awaiting my final payment . Hopefully, I'll have it by the end of the upcoming week (I suspect it's the newer variant, as the dealer got it in recently).
