I was reading a thread on this forum a week ro so ago, and someone mentioned they read the Desert Warrior had a melt down on the slide, whereas the Warrior didnt. Someone, maybe even the same guy, said they called Kimber and spoke to someone there who said this was incorrect, Desert Warrior and Warrior slides were the same except the color. So who was right? When the DW first came out, I got one and it has no melt down on the slide, its the same as my GF's Warrior.

Well, turns out they were both right. We just got a few new Desert Warriors in where I work and these new DW's have a slight melt down on the slide. Nothing dramatic, but noticable. The tan color is also noticably darker on the new ones. Not a lot, but darker for sure. We sold two of the three we just got in, but if the last one doesnt sell by the time I get back to work on Tuesday, I'll take some pictures of the two different ones.

As I was looking at the pics myself, please bear in mind that I've changed several of the MIM parts on my DW, so if you notice my barrel bushing, slide stop, hammer or other parts looking different than the new DW, thats why.

I think you're right.  They are a different color.  And just from loooking at your pics, the new gun does look like more attention was paid to the edges.  I would hesitate to call it a melt-down job, but it is more than the standard carry bevel job on your DW.
