If you have my luck, even when the replaced the slide to an internal extractor, you'll still have issues.

For the record my TLE/RLII Pro has been through the following and I just had to send it back AGAIN.
3 barrel, 3 guiderods, 3 slides, 2 frames,  still not working.

This has been ongoing for almost a year now.

Yikes. I could never trust that pistol even if it comes back and actually functions.....

Hell, it sounds like they HAVE sent back the equivalent of 2-3 pistols.

Just got an Eclipse Ultra II. External extractor. Today I fired 80rds and had 5 failures to extract. Looks like it's gonna be going back to Kimber.  I will accept nothing less than a new slide with internal extractor.

Received my Tactical Pro back from it's second trip to the factory for extraction problems associated with the external extractor. They replaced the slide with a new one that  has the old style internal extractor. I shot 150 rounds today using 3 different makes of magazines with a mix of Speer 230 grain hardball and Gold Dots,  zero malfuctions. Kimber did a good job and fixed it right.

Ya, they've lost so much money off of me in more ways then one.

I've had so many friends that want to buy a Kimber after they fondle mine and then I tell them the story and they'll never buy a kimber.

Actaully, as much as I tell them not all 1911's are this way, some of them won't even touch a 1911 after hearing my story.

GJ Kimber, really doing the 1911 style of pistols justice.

As of today, here are the latest results:

-Total guns polled:  87
-Total with internal extractors: 50
-Total with external extractors: 37
-Reliability with internal: 47 reliable, 3 unreliable, 94% reliability
-Reliability with external: 19 reliable, 18 unreliable, 51% reliability
-Reliability for all pistols: 66 of 87 pistols, or 76%

Again, this is very informal, and not the most scientific.  However, there is most definitely a trend here.

My Custom II with the EE had two FTE when new but has run fine the last 500 rounds.

I call it reliable.

I just bought a SIG P220 to keep it company, of course it runs perfect.

Had our monthly SRT training yesterday. Four guys with Kimbers. Two TLE/RL's and two TLE's.  Three of them had malfunctions, all of them had EE's. Two of the guns had more than one malfunction. 200 rounds fired.

So, these are SWAT guns?  That's just not acceptable if that is the case....

Yes and Yes. One of the guys has had his sent to Kimber twice. I told him he should demand a new slide with internal extractor. We were doing out and up drills and one of the guys damn near ran out of magazines.

Just to let you guys know that Kimber re-machined my frame and how my internal extractor Kimber has worked PERFECTLY after 350 rounds.

You guys should go over to one of the 1911 sites.
Those guys just don't want to hear anymore that EE Kimbers suck ass and are still having issues.

+1 Classic Custom (series I)

No problems with good factory ammo and magazines.

Looking to buy another Kimber, but having problems locating a good used series I locally.

No interest in a series II or 1K+ for the new pistols.

Mine is back at Kimber for the second time. I got it back from Kimber after the slide swap and had 13 FTF and 1 FTE in about 150 rds or less. Not to mention I was getting spent brass in the face the whole time. Hopefully they just replace the damn thing this time.

One internal (Custom II), with about 600 rounds through it in two consecutive days. Not one failure of any kind.
