Looking for a new EDC that is "roughly" Glock 19 in size and a 9mm,

I want a traditional DA/SA as opposed to a striker, having carried a Sig for years. De-cocker is a given and a manual safety would be nice since I am also a long time 1911 user.

I haven't been able to find a P2000 V3 to wrap my hands around locally. I really like the feel of the P30 series and could live with either a V3 or, an S V3 as I like the manual safety.
Not interested in the SK of either model as the grip is just to short and I don't care for finger extension base plates. This would be carried IWB.

So, to those who have owned or used both, what is your preference and why?

How about one of the Sig P320 models? I have the full size 320rx yet with the modular design buy one and can change out between 9mm/.40/.357sig. And change from full size down to sub-compact. What you are looking for the Carry fits. I know this is the HK forum yet just giving ideas.

what city/state?  I have an uber-clean P2000 V3 I'd be willing to sell/trade.  I'm in the market for a P226 without rail.  IM me.

I have owned both and would strongly suggest the P2000.  It's a perfect size and won't rub you raw when carrying IWB.  It's much more concealable for me as well.  Unfortunately both of those guns were stolen in a breakin years ago.  The P30 is great, however I never utilized the side straps and the it did tear some holes in my shirts when I did carry it.

I prefer the P2000 myself, and it definitely would make a better CCW than the P30.

So, I have a P2000 inbound from CDNN,

They have V3's for $549, thanks for the link dwcopple. I also had my FFL order a couple extra magazines while he was at it because they were also on sale for $26 and some change.

Thanks for the input,

Late to the parry, but I think you made the right choice. P2000 is a great ccw. P30 is a fine pistol as well, but just a bit thicker and every little bit counts when carrying IWB. P2000 grip is more than ergonomic enough.

You will eventually own a P30 as well

I rotate a CZ P07 Gen 2 and a HK P30SK. The P07 is basically same size as a Glock 19

I cant stand striker fired guns but thats just me personally and prefer a DA/SA gun....

Now if we could just get HK or CZ on board and get them to make a super thin single stack DA/SA 9mm in the size of the shield.....

If you're interested, I've got a P2000 in light LEM for sale if you want to try that trigger.

I have an HK P2000 v3, it is my edc pistol. I paired it with an Alien Gear cloacktuck 3.0 and it disappears. BTW, I am 6'0 and 193lbs.

P2000 all the way if you are going to carry IWB.  P30 grip tears my hide up. P2000 is nice and flat with just enough traction on the sides.  Rougher texture front and back.  I have both and even though the P30 grip feels better I don't really shoot it any better than the P2000.  Then again it could be that I find the P2000 fits my hand well or that I have more rounds through the gun.  Polish the trigger bar and hammer strut then run the blue (IIRC 12lb) hammer spring for 4.5/9 lb trigger pulls.  It will still go bang every time.  Lower profile slide locks are available if you find your grip keeping the gun from locking back.  Flat floorplates available to shorten grip just a bit.  CDNN had some for cheap a few weeks back.

Yes, I'm biased.  Once I found the P2000 I just about stopped carrying anything else.  Don't see the point in an SK version.  Tried to like the G43 or Shield (brother has both) and just don't see that they carry significantly better.  P2000LEM in a TT Gunleather RIWB, for me, is the ultimate carry package.

Picked up my P2000 yesterday,

Put 300 rounds of assorted FMJ and various HP I had around through it. Functioned flawlessly with all four magazines. I think the HK 12 lb. "Blue" mainspring and HK 45 magazine release is in order to make this a great carry gun.

Thanks for the advice guys,

glad it worked well.  I love the P2000.  More than the P30 for sure.  The p30 is good I just think the 2000 has better sizing which is way important IMO

I just ordered my third P2000V3 because I wanted one.  I plan on selling my Sig P228 because I just trust my P2000 more as well as my Glock 19 but that is because I have trained Iraqis and Contractors on the use of the Glock 19 for years.

Currently Deployed so I am rocking my M9 and M4 so I have until November to see my new P2000.  Have the Wolff Spring and HK Pistol "Nickel Plated" Match Flat Sear Spring on order.

I love my P2000 LEM lite.  I also bought two USP Compacts since discovering this size pistol.

I put on the HK 45 Mag release, huge improvement.

Also installed the light firing pin block spring and HK 12lb "Blue" spring. Made a small improvement but, I still need to install the light trigger return spring. The flat magazine baseplates are also worth the effort for EDC.

Congrats on your P2000.  They're definitely my favorite HK for CCW use.  I don't, however, like the V3 trigger.  I bought my first P2000 after they came out (in 40SW......) and couldn't get use to the slide mounted decock button or the terrible DA pull weight.  I've owned a P30SK-S, but again hated the V3 trigger.  I prefer either hte original USP V1 (cocked and cocked / decocker / DA-SA) or P2000/P30 V1 (Lite LEM).

If you get a chance to shoot a LIGHT LEM you'll probably never go back.  As a former Sig guy you may have shot their DAK which is similar.

Another random thought...

Consider adding some grip tape.  The P2000 / HK45C frame gets very slippery if you have sweaty hands.  The "slick" frame is great for carry, but blows for shooting wet.
