So I have an opportunity to buy an old Colt Cobra Lightweight 38 special for $600.00. It's in good shape and appears to hardly have been shot. It has some after market grips that will be replaced if I buy it. I don't know much about these, is there anything I need to look for or any concerns I need to know. I buy guns to shoot so it won't sit in the safe and may occasionally see carry duty. Any input is appreciated.

Ehhhh you can get a new one for like 100 bucks more online.  If you plan to actually shoot it I'd get a detective special instead.  A little heavier for carry but they have only been going up in value but are still priced fair.

The cobra IMHO is never going to hit the python craze because it's a "snake" gun.

My opinion above aside I'm not crapping on the cobra at all, I just don't think it's up to the hype being a snake gun.  You won't be upset if you did snag it though awesome little boom sticks.

You want a wheel gun, to carry, that nice blue from the 70s, and something that will fit perfectly with a top lip dick broom (stache) look into the S&W model 49........I freaking love them

Thanks for the reply. I have a few old Smiths and I love them. This would be my first Colt wheelgun.

Great little pistols, value will depend on it's generation, condition etc $600 is just OK

It won't appreciate like a Python or Anaconda but will hold value
