I picked up a blued 1911 colt today at cabelas. It was on clearance for $700 new in the box. Was looking for a 9mm but felt this was a decent deal.

Yeah, im a ND resident and it was at the Grand forks MN store. So I guess even though the store is literally 200 yards from ND they have to mail it to a pawn shop 2 miles away so they can transfer it and since it was done on a friday it wont be there till monday , hence no pics. At least I dont have to pay taxes on it, lol, but seriously what a crock.

It's a blued 5" Colt govt model.

Some groups from 15 yards. Winchester 1911 ball. The gun can shoot.

sorry about the picture quality, took it with my phone and they looked fine there, lol. Just picked up a really nice Browning high power for $450, in lieu of a 9mm 1911. It seems like a better investment right now, might buy a beater high power in the $300+ range as a project with my son. Doubt these surplus hi-powers will be this cheap for long.

Pff, Series 80.

Groups like that at 15 yards- good shooting and I would say all those whiners who say series 80 triggers suck are proven wrong by your targets.
It shoots so well I would urge you not to mess with it like so many people tend to with 1911's - continue to enjoy!

Yeah, I'm keeping it stock, I like her as is.

Very, very nice.

I'm looking for one just like that, or a Series 70. The only change I'm going to make is to put some elk horn grips on it.

Apparently, you can too. Very nice blaster there, congrats!   Not to mention, it's wearing the Pony, which always projects an intimidating visage upon other 1911s at the range.

I have this gun because every gun dude needs a 1911 and mine works fine.  Not a perfectionists 1911 but it will do.

Details on the Browning?  $450 sounds like a great price.

A proper series 80 is the better gun.  Particularly if you want to carry a 1911.
