Just bought a box at Walmart yesterday. Can't beat the price. It functioned perfectly in my Springfield and shot to point of aim. Don't get me wrong Hydra Shok, Gold Dot Etc. are great. But I'm curious if anyone has any actual results of how it's preformed in the field. Thanks.

I use an older, no longer easy to come buy Winchester 230 grn. HP round, the "Black Talon".

While all I've used it on are "dillows", hogs and bovines, lives up to it's rep as far as I'm concerned. Good penetration, excellent expansion, if the HP ya got has the "Ranger" round, suspect it's comparable.

Mike,

The Black Talon and Ranger are pretty comparable in bare gel tests. But it seems the Ranger is much better as far as clothed gelatin or barriers are concerned. Needless to say the Ranger is very good ammo if you can find it. From what I have read about police shootings involving that load, it does the job.

The "white box" HP is not the Ranger stuff, but I have heard that it works just fine...never been able to find any around here.

I use it myself, and I have no complaints. I haven't seen the .45 load tested, but ammolab tested the equivalent 9mm load, and it looks like it did pretty well.
