Was shooting my apx yesterday and about every other shot the primers would pop out and I could see them go flying when my gun ejected. I only had 50 rounds of the stuff. Went back to blazer brass and I did not see any problems with that. Is this a known issue with federal 115gr aluminum cases ammo?

I've never seen that with that ammo personally.  Doesnt sound normal.  Those should be quality CCI primers IIRC. Bad headspace? Dont hear about that often in pistols.

Maybe a bad batch of aluminum that led to loose primer pockets.

weird. This is a new pistol but I have fired at least 500 rounds though it if brass ammo with zero problems

I had this same problem shooting that ammo from my Walther PPS M1 9MM.

Zero problems shooting Blazer Aluminum though.

Just shot another box of it today from three different guns. About every Third round would pop a primer

Never an issue with it. I'd contact Federal.

I've shot over 1000 rounds of the stuff in several different pistols and never had any problems at all, even in my Walthers with the original design Luger type stepped chamber.

It is my go to cheap ammo for range blasting.

Wow I've shot tons of this stuff with no issues. I'd bet you got some from a bad lot.

I have shot a lot of the stuff probably a combined 10,000 plus rounds of mainly 124 and 115's to a lessor extent with exactly 1 dud. Never popped a primer.

124?

I've never seen it in any weight but 115.

I recently shot ~2000 rounds of CCI aluminum.  About 1500 through pistols and 500 through my MPX.  I had 2 popped primers, both with the MPX.  While not conclusive, it could suggest that aluminum cases work better in some guns than others.

Federal owns CCI . Under the CCI  brand you can get 124's .  The earlier Federal branded boxes had CCI headstamps

I've shot a few thousand of the 9mm 115gr fed aluminum without issue. It isn't very accurate, but it is a cheap bulk load. As for popped primers, none.

Edit: however, look for bullet set back. I have had a couple, literally 2, that easily set back, but I caught them before firing. Bullet set back will raise pressure enough for popped primers.

I know fed owns CCI and they are supposed to be the same ammo, but the CCI is more accurate for me. I've shot a thousands of each. Maybe it is in my head.

Never a popped primer for me. But maybe they turned out a bad lot.

CCI Blazer aluminum is my favorite practice load. It is very accurate in my Glocks.

The Fed aluminum is the same. Although it "feels" a little weaker. I have no chrono to test them.

I also recently tried the Independent brand aluminum 115FMJ. Shoots the same as the CCI, although I had a few fail to eject in my G17 using very old 10 round mags.

I just ordered 2K of the 9mm Blazer from PSA at $7.99 with free shipping. The best deal for about the past 10 years.

I have only seen 115 FMJ in the Fed.

But CCI makes it in 115, 124, and 147 TMJ. The 115 shoots the most accurate for me.

CCI used to make their aluminum cased ammo with premium Gold Dot HP bullets. I still have a box of the 40SW 180 gr Gold Dot in the aluminum cases.

I have not seen or heard of any negative affects or drawbacks of using aluminum cases. I wonder why more manufacturers do not use it.

Sorry for the sidetrack....still no popped primers here. Fingers crossed.
