I was thinking about picking up some new production of this ammo. A couple places I read that Federal slightly downloaded the velocity on this ammo. Can anyone confirm or have personal chrono data for this load? Thanks.

I shot some of these in 2012 and got an average velocity of 1273fps from a Glock 19. In the thread I posted a few months ago I got an average of 1258fps. So that’s about four or so years apart from purchase.

Interesting, thanks for the info. My glock 17 shoots incredibly accurate with it. Was just wondering if they had been downloaded. The stuff I have on hand is probably 6 years old.

No. They don't. You will have pressure and velocity variations per lot, or even within a case.

Really? So quality control is lacking?

No, just normal variances. You can't judge one lot against another is really my point. Pressure for 9bple is 38500 psi according to Federal.

Ditto. This stuff is by far the most accurate load out of all my 9mm glocks, especially my 17. Love ringing steel at 100 yards with just a little holdover.

You aren't lying. I have carried a glock 19 for years. I just sent a 17 frame off to be chopped to 19 length and I'll be carrying it with this load. It's extremely accurate out of that particular 17. More so than other guns for whatever reason.

What's funny is that 38.5kpsi is the spec for 9mm +p.

9mm +p+ should be running 42kpsi.

Makes me wonder what pressure Federal loads their 9mm +p to.

42k are proof pressure, not NATO. NATO is 34.1k

42kpsi is also considered +p+ spec; here's the Winchester +p+ 127gr Spec sheet, listed at 42,000 CUP:
http://winchesterle.com/Lists%2FCatalogAmmo%2FAttachments%2F13%2FRA9TA.pdf

If you have access to Quickload you can also do a quasi reverse engineer of full house +p+ loads from Underwood, Buffalo Bore, etc. Hitting 1300ft/s from a 4" barrel with a 124gr; 1400 fps from a 4" barrel 115gr, is around 42kpsi.

.357 SIG's C.I.P. pressure rating is 44K, and both the brass and barrel chamber walls for .357 SIG are less thick then 9mm.

The number of +p+ defensive rounds it will take to wear out a modern duty handgun will far exceed the cost of the handgun itself.

FWIW I get 1225 fps average from 9BPLE in my Sig P320 compact. And Winchester Ranger 115gr +p+ was averaging around 1300fps. I tested 2 or 3 different lots in 9BPLE, but just one lot of Winchester.

I also got excellent accuracy from the 9BLE +P+ loads out of various Glocks. The stuff was also very hot. While it is an older load, it had (and probably still has) excellent street creds.

The few jell-shooting videos I have seen with it shows that it fragments and makes a mess.

I doubt that Federal has downloaded it. I certainly hope not.

I have seen lots of Federal 9mm ammo labeled almost identical to the +P+ in the white box "Federal Classic" and "Hi Shok" but it's not the +P+. Is it possible that you got some mixed up?

It was definitely 9BPLE. But to clarify, I tested them in different guns, but both of them were P320 compacts with 3.9 barrels. A more accurate test would be to shoot them out of the same gun on the same day. Barrel length made a big difference because I was getting 1300fps when shooting 9BPLE from my Glock 17.

That's awesome. I was wondering about the Winchester load. It's much more expensive than the bple though. I'm a velocity junkie when it comes to 9mm.

FWIW, I use this ammo, and have chronod a box (early 2016 production), averaged 1269 from my glock 19 at about 10 feet. Nothing super scientific.
