What brands do you all like for standard ball ammo, and where do you get your bulk .45ACP? I'm going to start reloading, however I'd like to get some bulk .45 in good reloadable brass in to use up, then I can reload the cases later when I get going.

I see Widener's has some PPU 230gr FMJ, which is on sale for $339 + approx. $20 shipping for 1000 rounds. Is this stuff any good?

Does IMI make .45ACP?? LOL

Any input is appreciated, I'm somewhat new to .45ACP thanks to acquiring a 1911.

Winchester 230 gr truncated cone FMJ flat nose. It's the same weight as my defense loads and has the same relative POI.

I originally bought it to shoot metal plates with, less bounce back. It's accurate and very clean. I love it. It shoots great in

my Kimber but the Glock does not like it. May have to polish the feed ramp to get it work in the G21.

I've bought and shot a bunch of .45 and .40 from Republic Ammunition in St. Louis, MO.  It's remanufactured, but has worked flawlessly for me.  I just tried their web site and can't get to it.  I hope they're still around.

I like Blazer Brass or Blazer Aluminum from palmettostatearmory.com  . This ammo is very clean, accurate, and reliable. I stock it for SHTF/target ammo.

This is relevant to my interests. Is there any reason, say, to buy S&B or Federal/AE .45 fmj at $340/1000 over Aguila at $300/1000?

Last bulk FMJ .45 I bought was from sgammo.com. It was the Aguila stuff... the jury is still out on its performance, but the brass is nice.

I always feel like less of a man when I bend over and pick up 9mm brass.

.45 for life
