Looking for a gunsmith recommendation who has experience checkering the front strap of a Sig P228 P226.

Don't do it!  The refinish will destroy your factory finish and pin hole dimensions, and the work will destroy the guns value.  Sell it and buy a Sig with a factory checkered frame.  Net cost will be much lower.

Not worried about the finish, no pin holes in the front strap to worry about.  Grip tape has been doing a great job anyway.
