I sold my 642 awhile back, looking to get another j frame for carry. The 642 was very convenient, ie. could carry it with my kydex iwb holster, no belt, in gym shorts. (I live in Florida, holster has an Ulticlip on it).

I've always wanted a 640 Pro. I know the 640 would get more range time too. Will I be able to have the same convenience with the 640, or will it be just too heavy?

Too heavy for gym shorts other than that it's a better buy.

While I do not carry I gym
Shorts I have been carrying an all steel old school ( blue rules!) model 36 snubby in every possible mode ( ankle Pocket belt shoulder and the weight is no big deal at all for carry but makes the gun much more manageable when shooting making it much easier to be accurate with. I am a huge advocate for the all steel snub!

Get a 340 it's what I'm going to do. I carry my 640 a lot, figured I could train mostly with the 640 then carry the 340. It's the same gun just a crap load lighter.
