The compensator is manufactured and sold by a gentleman on the Beretta Forums. I don't know what the hell I was thinking, but I got a strange .40 S&W bug a few years ago and bought the 96A1. Being a heavier, full-size gun it handled .40 okay, but I never really found it pleasant to shoot. It wasn't bad, just not enjoyable. I discovered the SGS comp and figured it would be an interesting experiment, if nothing else. It does make a significant difference, from both the extra weight and the action of the compensator. The comp alleviates the snappy, flipping recoil of the .40 round and makes it more of a backwards push. I've found I can now shoot it accurately more quickly than before. Overall, it feels fairly similar to a 9mm. It is big and heavy, though. Such that I've taken to calling it The Ol' 96er. Attached File |

Also got me another one of these - but this one is in my favorite caliber .32ACP; the other one is in .380ACP which is too snappy for these handguns.

Wow. I'm glad I asked. I didn't know there was such a thing. LOL. Thank you.
What would be the benefit of that design? Is it that much cheaper? It said 375 for one but that doesn't seem that much cheaper than a traditional can. It does seem more compact and possibly lighter than a lot of cans.... eh? |

Ah, that does seem like a smaller price than other cans though...... eh? A can with rubbers. Cool.
I wonder if it slows down velocity much or at all. I've heard sometimes cans actually boost velocity, so maybe if the inserts slow it down it's a wash? I suppose you didn't chrono it, eh? |
