My new to me Beretta Vertec. One owner made in 2004. I got a great deal on it. $550 with 10 factory 15rnd mags. Now I get to spend even more money fitting it out like my 92A1. I have a set of FDE grips for the M9A3 coming from Beretta.

My factory FDE Vertec grips just arrived. They are a place holder until I get my grips I ordered from Lok grips arrive. The black grips on this Vertec were the original Beretta logo Hogue grips that it left the factory with in 2004. These new thin FDE grips are the same used on the M9A3 and feel really good.

Just got my first Beretta this past Tuesday. Did a 14hr, 660mi day to drive round-trip from DFW to San Antonio and back to trade a G19 for it. No A/C, no cruise control, no regrets. Only got to put 100rnds through it so far, but it's easily the smoothest shooting gun I've ever fired.

When I picked it up:

How she sits now:

I had the Wicked Grips ordered less than 2 hours after picking it up, while sitting in a cigar lounge waiting for rush hour traffic to go away. They really are wonderful, about the same thickness as stock, extremely well fitting both on the gun and in my hands. They're smooth, but not slick, and extremely comfortable without feeling like the gun will come out of your hands.

Looking forward to getting more rounds downrange, and changing out/cleaning up the trigger pull a fair bit. Some more pictures here.

Yeah, we really are. Thanks! I'm in love with it so far, only shot 100 rounds and hoping to put another 250 through it tomorrow. Already have a G Conversion and skeletonized hammer on the way from Beretta, and it'll be getting a WC trigger kit eventually, though I want to put more rounds downrange with the stock trigger before I jump to that.

My M9A1C is set up with a WC standard power TCU, WC #14 hammer spring, WC thin tactical slant G10 grips, WC single side safety, WC magazine guide, WC fluted guide rod with frat wire recoil spring, Beretta short reach trigger, Beretta Elite II hammer, and Beretta over sized mag catch. It has been 100% reliable, the trigger feels great. This is the same set up I have on my 92A1 and 92 Vertec. I don't carry my M9A1C that much up when I do it rides in an Alien Gear 3.0.

Awesome, that's good to hear.

For the trigger return springs, would y'all recommend standard, reduced, or extra? I know the reduced would lower the trigger pull, but I was curious if the extra power would increase reset.

Talk to me about your front sight. Is there a dovetail milled into the slide? Do you have your front sight welded in place? Can you post more detailed photos of how it is set up?

Photo thread. All I am waiting on is my set of Lok grips and my KT Mech holster and my 92 Vertec will be complete. Lots of Wilson and Beretta shop upgrades are in this pistol.

Let me see if I can grab some pictures...

The front site is still there, however there are two holes that have been milled through it and the new site has been pinned on top of it.  I thought that was an interesting solution,  edit survive thousands of rounds.

The compensator is an alloy compensator, and all of the white metal you see is actually tungsten. This was done to add weight week to the pistol,   And remove anything that was plastic.

The fun part is that the barrel is not some crazy match barrel, however with the compensator big groups like a match barrel.

This project was started by a friend of mine who is a gunsmith. He was looking for a way not to have to put a rail system in the slide. It dawned on him that if he could take the barrel  and it's lock up ,  and change the dynamics...  he might be able to get a decent match pistol out of it.

The thing is unbelievably accurate.  We also found he really didn't need match barrels.

List of things that was done:

- bushing area on the slide is now round; slide milled to a circular diameter from oval

- front sight milled and pinned with custom front sight

- all parts major parts replaced with tungsten parts (hammer cap, etc.) for added weight

- compensator added

- recoil spring lightened

This is an IPSC style pistol, so speed was key, and it fires fast and accurately without issue.

Nice gun

I have the standard tcu. Not a fan.

My m9a1C is my standard EDC. Wilson thin grips, g lever, Wilson rear sight, Wilson flatwire recoil spring, Wilson mag release. Only needs a front night sight

Beretta noob here, what's that model with no safety, and how does it work? Going by no safety, it's not SAO, but the fact that you've got the hammer back doesn't work with a DAO, and now I'm really confused.

So it started life as a 92FS (standard DA/SA with slide mounted safety/de-cocker), I simply swapped the slide from a 92D (which is a DAO and no slide mounted lever). The resulting combination is a DA/SA gun with no safety or de-cocker. I do not carry this gun so its not a safety concern. I just really don't like the slide mounted lever. I may in the future source a 92D Centurion slide for the compact (a centurion is a full size frame with a compact slide), this would give me a compact grip and compact slide without the slide lever. Also the 92D slide on my full size also has night sights from the factory and I had Trijicon re lamp them so they will glow for another 15 years. The added benefit to doing the 92D Centurion slide is I will also get night sights on the compact too.

Nice. I have been thinking whether to get me one as well or not.
I am debating between an old assed look of been there done that (i.e., an older one) or an M9A1, new or used.

I used to have a bunch when I lived in Italy.

Finished, at least for a good long while!

Beretta 92FS Compact-L I got in trade for a G19, parts in and on it now are as follows:

Wilson Combat action tune kit (running 14# spring, 12# gave two failures to fire in 600rnds), short reach trigger, WC hammer, Beretta G conversion, Wicked Grips Japanese Flowers aluminum grip panels, Streamlight TLR-1, and Winchester 147grn Ranger Bonded JHP. All fits nicely into a Pelican 1170 case.

Edit: just because I was curious, my questionably-accurate bathroom scale is showing 2 3/8ths pounds loaded with light

The guy that traded you a G19 for that was a moron. The M9A1 compacts are starting to jump in value. Beretta hasn't produced any in a long time and according to a few people I spoke to from Beretta recently the factory in Tenn is not set up for the M9A1 or M9A1 compact fames yet so it will probably be late this year or earily next year before we see more M9A1s and M9A1 Compacts.

I mean the G19 was a gen4 OD frame NIB, but yeah. I drove 660mi, $90+ in gas, 14hrs to spend 2min swapping a $500 pistol for a $6-750 pistol. I didn't even realize what I had gotten until the day after when I started looking into it and found out it was somewhat rare, especially in the two tone. Still have all the original parts in case I ever put it back to how it was or decide to part with it.

I mean even with the gas money (02 wrx, 20mpg), it'd put the G19 at $590, so I saved at least $10, if not $160. I enjoy driving, so still a good deal for me. But really, even if I didn't save any money, having a gun that I love and enjoy and find comfortable would still be worth it.

There is one on GB right now. It is the first one I have seen on there in weeks.

I am about to buy a second one from a guy on a local gun board tomorrow. I want one to customize and one to keep stock as a collectible. I've already started buying stuff for my current M9A1, I have an E2 hammer and oversized checkered mag catch on the way from Beretta, a short reach trigger and Wolff TCU, I am going to try the extra power one this time. Lok grips, WC mag guide, fluted guide rod and flat wire spring.
