I've had mine for just over a year now.  Round count rapidly approaching 3K with no malfunctions.  I have fairly large hands and this seems to be about the smallest handgun I can shoot well.  The P239 is just too small for my hands.  I haven't carried it concealed but I have used it in some local matches.  It is on my list of guns to never, ever part with.

I own 7 different Sigs, and my factory nickel P225 is one of my favorites. It feels PERFECT in your hand. Best grip angle, best grip width of any Sig. Period. I have big hands, and the gun fits like a glove. I will have this one when I'm dead...

I have one and I love it.  I only wish it were black stainless.  Magazines are increasingly hard to find compared to some other SIG models, although new 225 mags are still available.

I don't want to spread rumors, but I did hear from a friend of mine that works in a gun store and is a big Sig fan that the 225s and 228s were going to be discontinued.  If you think about it, it makes sense, as the 239 and 229 sort of make the 225 and 228 redundant in the product line.  The 225 is unique in and of itself, though.  I hope it's not true because I like the looks and feel of the 225 better than the 239.

Has anybody else heard/know anything about this?

I own one and they are no longer in production to the best of my knowledge, still the best 9mm I have ever fired.

I saw what looked to be a recent production 225 at a show a couple of months back in Tacoma.
These guys www.discountgunsales.com/ were selling it and I don't remember their asking price.  I couldn't find a single new 225 mag at the show, although I later found them in Shotgun News and on the net.

When I bought my 225 I was with a SIGphreak friend of mine.  We were at our local range and saw consecutively numbered weapons.  The rumor was that they were being discontinued.  This was in 1998 or so.

The conversation went something like, "Bitch, you don't have the balls to buy that."

"Bitch, you don't have the balls to buy the other one!"

Of course we both walked out less $425 each.  Talk about an impulse buy.  I didn't see another new one for years until that last show.

Great gun.  Runs like a champ and easy to clean.  I only wish it and the magazines offered more corrosion protection.

one word . . .

Love !

One of my all time favorite handguns.  Several hundred rounds and has always been 110%

Rumors:  228 is still being made.  Uncle Sam buys a bunch of these -- known as the M-11 -- remember ? ? ?

And the 225 is still being manufactured too -- for the European market.  Used by several police forces over there.  And I could be mistaken, but in the newest Sig catalog is still shows the 228 and maybe the 225 (can't find that catalog  ! !).  Getting parts for either one will not be a problem.

I shot the 239 and then the 225.

Bought the 225.

Any questions ? ? ?

p.s.  Yes -- I DO carry the 225 for CCW ! ! !

Me again . . .

Found my "2005 Sigarms" catalog.

Two versions of the P-228 listed, one in two-tone (satin nickle slide) and the standard "blued" model.

In the "pre-owned" section of the catalog they have listed both the P-228 AND the P-225   ! ! ! !

Contact you local dealer -- he'll find you one . . . .

I find the 228 works better for me, I overgrip my 225 causing rounds to hit to the left, the grip is a bit too small.

One of those RARE "just-right" pistols.

Its a shame more people dont realize just how smart and shootable that gun is just because its not a large caliber or a hi-cap gun.  Its an ergonomic dream, right up there with the Browning P35, and the 1911.

I've had mine for about 5 years.  It is one of my favorite pistols.  I have never had a problem with it.  I just wish mags very easier to find and less expensive.  Also can anybody recommend a good CCW holster for it and a source of mags.

I'm a Hk guy, but the 225 is probably the best carrygun I can think of.  Mine is great. Accurate, comfortable, and the single stack doesn't print on clothes like the double stack [thicker] pistols that are supposed to be carry guns. The capacity is fine.  If you need more, you're in big trouble. Better to be good..than hope to hit something.

Hello, new to the boards here. I just have to say that I got a 225 about a month and a half ago and was amazed at how it felt. I had a 239 that I sold to make way for my 1911 and I don't miss it at all. The 225 is superior in my opinion.

I have a 228 and 229, but I will say that the 225 is the best "feeling" pistol they ever made. That grip is damn near perfect

My ex-gf back in Texas and I picked a P225 out for her back in the 90's.
It was and still is awesome.  It was the right size for her hands.

She still has it.  Really super gun.

ETA: It fit my hands too so I'm not saying it's only for small hands.  Like others have said its overall ergonomics are awesome.  If I found one I'd consider it for me even though I have a 226 now.

They should discontinue that stupid P239 instead of the 225, and discontinue the 9mm 229 in favor of the 228.

I find the new stainless slides to be noticably heavier, I hate the 1/2 cocking serrations on the 239/229, and I hate the new external extractors.  I especially hate the new(er) grip panels with "Sig Sauer" etched across them.  And I don't care what anybody says, the .357 Sig and .40S&W are nothing more than marketing hype.  9 is fine.

EDIT:  I'm not trying to start a flame war.  I'm just expressing my opinion, which is of course the right opinion.

I agree.  But I think I'll hang on to my 229 .40... for a while anyway.

QUIB,

Nics pics.  Really well done.  Are you a pro or semi-pro photographer?  I assume you took those.

Thanks.

No, I'm not a pro, just a guy with a new digital camera and a few years of photography classes. Stickman is the gun porn photo pro of this website!
