My current three Sigs are all 9mm, and I have a few other .40 cal pistols (Glocks)  already. I enjoy reloading for the .40 also.

Couldn't resist it any more. I've fired a 229 in .40 and I believe it's the best gun for the .40 cal, in my experience.

AIM has them right now. P229 (railed) with night sights and one mag for $449. Shipping was $15 and my FFL does free transfers. Any P series Sig for $465 out the door isn't too bad, IMO.

I'll post some pics when I bring her home!

ETA pics

I still need to give it a good cleaning, but here she is just as she came out of the case as shipped from AIM. I'm very happy with it. Somebody had already dropped an SRT kit in it too. Can't wait to clean it up and shoot it.

Beavertail pic shows the only noticeable wear. Frame rails look great.

bought mine as a "like new" leo trade in from CDNN a year or two back, excellent handgun. Mine was also chambered in .40 s&w, I dropped in a 357 sig barrel.. prefer it to .40

Thanks for the replies. Looking forward to seeing this thing.

Probably gonna order an SRT kit to install before I even take it shooting. Should be standard equipment on all Sigs.

This 229 should nicely accompany my 228, Mk25D, and 226 Legion.

Shit, now I need more mags!

I love my DA/SA P226R .40 I snagged this year for $440 in the box with 3 mags from a private party. The gun was like new. It blows me away how good it shoots, easily as accurate as my Dan Wesson Heritage. I definitely prefer it to the Glock 22 I'm required to carry.

These are good days to buy a P229 or P226 in .40. Lots of agencies are upgrading to polymer.

I've got a P229R DAK that originally was chambered in .40 S&W. It has night sights, and I also have a 357 SIG barrel for it and a .22LR caliber conversion kit. It is my favorite pistol. The deals currently for these pistols are phenomenal.

I ordered a P229R DA/SA CPO from Guns Midwest when they were on sale for $479.  It was manufactured in 2009, completely refinished / refreshed and it came with two new magazines.  I also purchased a few of the used magazines from Aim Surplus.

What holsters are everyone using for the .40?

Has anyone received one of the aim 229's? I'm curious what kind of condition they are in. I bought one but I won't be able to pick it up until Tuesday.

I got mine. It's in really good shape. Just a few small spots of worn anodizing on the beavertail. Inside looks like there's hardly any wear. Night sights still have some life left too. I'll try to get a few pics up.

Oh, and it came with an SRT installed. Had to cancel my backorder from Midway. There's $50 for a few more mags.

Very nice, that pistol barely looks used! I have wanted a sig 229 for a long time. I'm so glad I jumped on this deal, I cannot stand the new 229 with full serrations and long extractor

I got one of these too, from the same place, around the same time. They were only in stock for a few days. My serial number is only a few off from the OPs. I have nothing but good things to say about it. Mine had a little bit less wear, bright night sights, and had two spare magazines in the box that weren't advertised with it. I was pretty happy. A factory .357 Sig barrel has been a little bit hard to find but one is on the way now.

Nice! Must look brand new!

Nice score on the 2 spare mags. I only got one.

How far off is your serial?

I wish we knew what department these came from.

It does. I forgot that I can't post pictures directly and have to upload them offsite then link them. Ugh.

It's within 15 numbers of yours.

We just transitioned from these to the 320's last week.  We have the option to "buyback" our old guns...which I will end up doing.  These guns are built like tanks...I am a 1911 guy at heart...but my 229 has never missed a beat....I have put over 30k rounds through mine with only the normal maint./springs

That's good to know.

Glad you'll be keeping yours.

I think the 229 really shines in .40.

I traded mine a few years ago for an HK USP compact and got $200 to boot, along with 12 magazines. 8 of them were 10 rounders, however. The guy was a Sig fanatic but a bit short of cash.

I liked the trade, but have wanted to get another .40 229 ever since.

You guys aren't helping..........
