And this is the Glock forum in which I’ve read quite a few threads regarding similar situations in which Glocks have been discharged unintentionally and don’t ever remember anyone else posting a stupid “and?” If you don’t like my post and have no input on the subject simply click the “back” button and never return to this thread again. Or you can act like a 12 year old and keep it up. I'm just trying to make conversation like everyone else here. You can too. Does anyone know if you they still use Glocks? Border Patrol used to carry Glocks, then they went to Berretta, which will soon be replaced by H&K’s. A relative of mine is a Border Patrol agent and said they had quite a few mishaps from some of the agents when they were carrying Glocks. |

Back when we could only use revolvers, some guys still managed to shoot themselves with them unintentionally. The Glock may...MAY...be a tad easier to do something stupid with than some others, but a fool should keep his hands off of dangerous machinery.

I always hear people complaining about Glocks not having an external saftey. Every gun has a safety. It's called keep your finger outside the trigger guard until you intend to shoot. The only way a Glock will fire is if the trigger is pulled on a chambered round. If someone shot himself, he pulled the trigger.

If you feel you are unable to observe trigger discipline - then by all means, please don't use a Glock.

I don't know if this was meant to be funny, but it sure made me laugh. You wouldn't understand unless you know some cops, many (most?) of them couldn't shoot to save their lives..... (groans all around).

I picked up a used book off amazon for a $1.50 (had a $10 coupon for doing a survey) called Glock: The New Wave in Combat Handguns, anyway the author discusses some issues cops had with shooting themselves while reholstering when Glocks were first issued. Almost all of them had their finger on the trigger while reholstering. He also talks about an off-duty police officer in San Fran, who challenged an assailant and fired one round and the gun jammed. He was pissed and complained to Glock, and it was determined that he was using .380 ACP in a 9mm.

I worked an ND once where a FBI agent shot himself in the thigh.
It happened with his duty weapon. Nope... long before the Glock became the FBI issue. It was a Smith & Wesson Model 13 .357 Magnum. Big clue... KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER! |

Of course not. But why do I always hear people say that those who carry Glocks have a higher rate of mishaps? Does anyone have any numbers on that? I have two - a G19 and G22 - and have never felt unsafe handling them. |

The most common way to shoot your foot with any gun is to have your finger on the trigger and try to holster it with your finger on the trigger. There is at least one of these per month. There is a higher percentage of accidents with glocks because of the more forgiving nature of double action trigger pulls.
If you take a pistol off someone during training, and go to stick it in your belt while you cuff them, keep your booger picker off the trigger. |

I suspect the "higher percentage of accidents with glocks" is more of a "higher number of accidents with glocks" due to their greater number of issue with law enforcement. Nothing againts cops, just a law of averages result. Any large group of people will have a guaranteed number of idiots.

I bet this would not have been a problem if some particular person had kept their booger hook off the little sticky-outy thing on the bottom half of the gun.
