I recently switched from a 21 to a 17 to go along with the wife's 19 (she just didn't like shooting a .45.)
So do you guys do anything to mark the mags so that they could be told apart more easily especialy in stresfull situation or at night?

I've thought about this since I have a G17 and a G19.

Right now I keep my mags in separate, labelled boxes. My G19 is my CCW and my G17 is my class gun so they stay away from each other for the most part. Why not put the Magpul plates on one of them? That way you would know, by feeling if you grabbed a G17 or 19 mag.

Not a bad idea...I could put them on the 19 mags since the 17s will work in both and I will end up owning many more of the 17 mags anyway.

ETA

Is it an actual magpull item? 'cause it's not on their website.

Oh I should add that I have painted the floor plates of my training mags so they are easy to identify from my classmates...you could try something like that but that wouldn't help you in identify them in the dark.

I like the idea of the Mapul plates.

Why not put the 19 mags someplace harder to get to. In a stressful situation going with a 17 is never a bad thing.

Because they can still get mixed up. When I go to a class I take G17 and G19 mags. It's tough to keep those little bastards separated!

This is just right off of the top of my head but......Why not try Glow in the Dark paint...Cant see it during the day but at night it would shine. Either cover the floor plate or put a 17 or a 19 on the ones you want marked. I see one problem with this, The bad guy can see what you are doing.

If you are worried about a prolonged shoot out at your home you should probably consider just using glock 17 mags.

I mark all my mags with my ID and a number such as 1, 2,3 etc.
I use either a testors model silver paint pen or a silver sharpie.

Keeping them separate is not a bad idea. Mine have factory blue(G17) & orange(G19) base plates.

Hey, Hotrod. Where did you get those at?

Keep all the 19 mags in a box in your safe, only have 17 mags loaded and ready to go. That way no matter what is grabbed it can be used in both pistols.
