Thanks Gov. View Quote I'm actually gathering parts for a 'shark' G19 type for my scuba diving daughter. The trick is to find the right stainless material for the slide that are salt water resistant. Is that slide 17-4 PH1150 or 416 ? |

I think it's heat treated 17-4 Stainless Steel, but let me double check product development tomorrow and I will get back to you with a definitive answer.

Sorry, not being a smart ass, but does your daughter dive with a gun?

Quoted: Sorry, not being a smart ass, but does your daughter dive with a gun? View Quote Not a smart ass question at all. No at this time she carries her dive knife, and a spear gun when she's going for lionfish. I'm building her a Glock for self defense on land, but I decided since she is on the water often and loves to swim around sharks; I though I should build it with marine cups and non corrosive materials should she want to swim with a 'glock bang stick'. Though that depends on where she is as not all locals allow the use of bang sticks. |

Okay, that's the coolest thing I've read all week… haha. She's got a pretty cool dad.??

Seems to work, but you won't want to set it off underwater a second time. And no matter how it's finished, you literally need to strip the whole thing, slide and all - salt water is corrosive magic. I have heard throwing the slide and lower into an ultrasonic cleaning bin with clean water a couple of times also might get the salt out to the point you don't have to. |

Here is the Polymer80 PF940C BBS kit I just put together the other day. I still need to test fire it with live ammo. It passed all safety/function tests and feeds dummy rounds just fine.

The dark blue was a white G19 frame. Rite dye royal blue. Works great surprised how well it’s holding up.

After building my 940C I bought a SS80 frame for a G43 build. I used an OEM 43 slide and parts for it.
Attached File MidwayUSA has the Polymer 80 940CL frames on sale for $99.99 so I bought one in FDE. I ordered it on Wednesday morning and received it yesterday. Now to decide what slide to use for it. I'm debating between a 17 or 34 slide. 940CL frame Attached File |

All the parts arrived today to finish my 940CL. I got it together and put a Swampfox Kingslayer on it. I took the Kingslayer off of my Kel-Tec PRM for now until I decide what I want to get for the CL.
Parts kits and barrel came from Rocky Brass and the Polymer80 RMR slide and KNS SwitchSights came from Primary Arms. The trigger is a Hyve Technologies Monarch trigger in FDE. The anodizing is a little on the light side compared to the frame. Attached File |

Interesting about the nickel-boron treated bore. It's a plating, not a surface treatment, so I am not sure how that will hold up. Who sold you that barrel?

View Quote @homeyclaus Primary Arms, it's a CMC Trigger Barrel. Looking back at it I got the specs wrong; It's a boron nitride bore and chamber. Still needing a slide, Looking at the Lone Wolf OEM style 17-4 Stainless with a FDE PVD coating - but those look like they won't be available for a month or so. Also need a holster for it, Kydex obviously. But I wonder if it could also be attached to her BCD? How do you carry yours underwater? ETA: Got the slide ordered. Lone Wolf is going to PVD one of their in stock Stainless slides, so I won't have to wait. Cost a little more but it's worth it so the slide is here when she's home for Christmas. Also I picked up a 'standoff device' for the Glock. If she plans on using the pistol as a bang stick, this will allow her to fire when pressed against the threat. |
|
Most bcds have enough straps you can generally get one of the Safariland belt loops around one.
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Safariland-Belt-Clip-Holsters/dp/B003YD5IV6/ref=mp_s_a_1_15?dchild=1&keywords=safariland+belt+loop&qid=1603237273&sr=8-15 For the whole home setup I go with a Safariland GLS type holster. I am torn between a stand off device that mounts to the frames' picatinny rail vs having a tube on the barrel that directs the concussion away from the operator. |

BREAKING NEWS: ATF Raids Polymer 80 CD |

View Quote I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I do NOT like the direction things are going. I really do not want to have to dust off my old uniforms and uphold my oath but will if needed. |

It is definitely obvious ATF is feeling empowered (or pressured), to go hard on this segment. Trump flipping on bump stocks did not help.
I honestly think 80% is down to its last 40 days or so before they get redefined as firearms. Get them while you can! |

View Quote Thanks, I just MilSpin offered a darker shade of blue to better match the frame. I'm also interested in the potential corrosion issues. She knows how to field strip and tear down the slide, and she knows how to check steel and aluminum for corrosion. I'll report back if/when she finds something. |
