Decided to pick up a 34 for plinking at the local matches.

Do any glock fans or insiders have a clue if a gen 5 is to be expected soon? or should I just go with the gen 4?

I asked a Glock sales rep that same question last week. He said he had not heard anything about a gen 5 G34, but that if he were to guess, there will be a Gen 5. However, he couldn't even begin to guess when something like that would be released. So I'd say go ahead with the Gen 4 for now. Who knows how long we'll be waiting.

Unless you are left handed and hate finger grooves get a Gen4. I actually prefer the 17 to the 34 but a G34.4 would be my choice over a 5 I prefer finger grooves too.

If I wanted a Glock I would get it now in gen 4 rather than wait for them to come out with one in gen 5.

Not overly enamored with my gen5 G19. I'm happy with my pairs of gen3 and gen4 34s. Feel no need to get one in gen5.

I’ve got a 19.4 but not enough sight radius for the local matches.

Couldn’t really careless 4 vs 5, but figured if 5 was due by end of year I’d wait.

Thanks, I’ll plan to pick up a 4 this Christmas.

I've got a 34.4 I've used for local matches. I'm not big on the finger grooves and when I saw the other features of the Gen5 announced, I was excited. When a local shop got in a 17.5, I drooled as I gazed upon it with excitement thinking of a 34.5. However when the 17.5 got in my hand, it all was dashed. It just didn't feel as good as I was wishing it would. As of now, no plans on dropping my Gen4s. I'd suggest the 34.4.

Also he Gen4 does not have the half moon cut on the front strap like the Gen5.

I know I'm weird, but I have a strong preference for the gen 3. Hate the grip on the gen 4 and gen 5.

i just bought a gen 3 today, granted that's the only option for me, but that option is out there. i really like the gen 3s, i also own one gen 4 glock.

What would be the reason to recommend a Gen.3 over the Gen.4 if someone were to 'heavily modify' the pistol?
I use a Gen.4 34 MOS for competition use and haven't had any issue finding parts that I needed, including a quality competition sized mag well.
There is absolutely no reason a Gen.3 should be used over a Gen.4 pistol. My Gen.3 G34 that has been used in matches prior to picking up the Gen.4 hasn't been used since. The Gen.4 is also a little softer shooting depending on the weight of the recoil spring I am running.

Snagged this NOS early 34.4 with the frying pan finish this evening.

While I've parted ways with my 34's in favor of 17's over the years - a seriously new "old stock" one with the finish of the gods was too good to pass up on.

Seller won it at a GSSF match and just put it in the safe as he had other 34's.

Now to shoot the shit out of it.
