Being the average guy that I am, my hands fit the Gen 3 & 4 finger grooves perfectly. I shot the Gen 5 and the grip feels off and I don't shoot it quite as well, my shots start to drift slightly low. I'll keep the Gen 5, but my 3s & 4s will be go-tos, especially my Lipsey's Tan Gen 4 19. That thing has quite a few rounds through it and I shoot is the best of all of my pistols (except 1911s, of course).

I understand that. I've only handled one and hate the little half moon cut out at the bottom of the grip. What were they thinking? I'm like you, the finger grooves fit me perfectly.

Honestly, I don't even notice the cut out.

Yup. Just traded my brand new Gen 5 17 for a Vickers 19.

Andy,

If you decide you don't want it, let me know.  I have a few Gen 4's that are like new that I'm planning on purging at some point.

At this point I plan on keeping it and shooting it some more. Next time I go to the range I will do a side by side test with my favorite Gen 4. Unless you have something other than black, I have a fetish for FDE, BFG and so on .

Everyone is different, I didn't even notice the half moon.

The gen3 grip seems to fit my hand perfectly.

Never even held a gen4 or 5 so I cant compare.

I like the Gen3/4 because of the finger grooves.

Finger groves hit right in the middle of my fingers. I like the feel of the Gen5, but I will have to do the trigger guard relief.

I have large gorilla paws.  The finger grooves are my #1 complaint about the Glock 19 3/4.  The Gen 5 I just picked up is nice.  I don't like the cutout in the grip however.

All personal preferences when it come to the finger grooves on Glocks. The Gen 3/4 with finger grooves or no finger grooves on the Gen2/5. I prefer no finger grooves and have a Gen 2 19 & 17, Gen 3 19 that has had the finger grooves removed. And now waiting for Maryalnd's STUPID Law requiring the Gen 5 be put on a Approved handgun list  I will be then owning a Gen 5 19 & 17.

As long as you have what you want and it fits you and your needs. That is the Best one for you!

Finger groves never really bothered me, but surprisingly I like the 5's grip a little better

3, 4 or 5 - does not matter, they all are tack drivers for me.

I find that out of the holster the Gen 5 allows a much higher grip on the gun, so high I sometimes negate the slide lock. As far as the cutout goes it is sharp from the factory and can be knocked down with 100 grit sandpaper then smoothed with 1000 grit. Makes it more comfortable.

Found the cutout bothered me more or less with different backstops installed.

just buy some slip on rubber grips that have the finger grooves for the gen 5......

Just picked up a 5 today, haven't shot it yet,  but find myself thinking about removing the grooves on my 3's now and undercutting their trigger guards.  what really gets me about the five is the front of the slide.  I wish they would have skipped the beveling and just added front serrations or just left it alone looking like a gen 3 or 4.   Or at least just get rid of the grooves on the gen4.  I'm going to start looking into other manufacturers, I'm done with Glock. For whatever I like about the gen 5, the flaws have me looking elsewhere.

The finger grooves fit me perfectly. I don't have a gen 5 but I have a gen 2 and I don't miss the grooves when i shoot it though.

The gen 4/5 grip texture and large mag release are more important to me.

I thought I hated the finger grooves until I picked up a gen 5... I’m going to sell it and go back to the gen 4. Never know till you try.

The finger grooves don’t fit my hand, as evidenced by the giant callous worn onto my right middle finger/middle knuckle. That said, I’ve resigned myself to undercutting 19 sized frames and being happy with that. It’s a world of difference.

finger grooves fit me great on the 17, on the 19 not as much. still like my 19, but i think i'd prefer it much better w/o grooves.

I'm the same.  A guy stopped by to use my backyard range the other day and had a PPQ.  He let me run a 100 or so rounds through it.  I was sold on that gun until I priced what 10 mags would cost me.  I already have 15 G19 mags and no G19.  Looks like I'm stuck trying to decide Gen 3, 4, or 5.
