The 1911 is still my favorite, but a Glock will be my next handgun!

Not sure, I have to agree w/ jboze, I love the 1911, but after that it would be a toss-up between Sig and Glock, with Hk comming next in line. I like the Glock alot, but I am more comfortable with a pistol that has a hammer---I don't know why

1911's I think are the most popular style of handgun.......being manufactured with differant bells and whistles by a dozen different companies.
Glock..............Truly one of a kind, first last and always.  I like my G22 also

Glocks are very popular but i'm another 1911 guys as well.
The reason it appears that Glocks are THE most popular around here is because 1911's are not in a generic 1911 forum. There are forums for each manufacturer. Add up the post from the Springfield, Kimber, Wilson, Les Baer, etc forums and you'll get the idea. I like my Glock but I also like my 1911 and my new USP, both of which I may buy additional ones. |

You forgot about the Patented Tenifer fininsh that will cause the metal to outlast the Earth itself. You may think that a Glock is popular wait till you see a Glock 18 fire in FA at the range. Now that will turn anyone green with envy. Even a die hard 1911 guys. |

As a new Glock 17 owner, the Glock has it all over the 1911 in ease of firing, dissassembly and cleaning.
If a non-gun person was wanting a pistol, I would recommend the Glock over the 1911. I think the 1911 is more popular because it is something almost every gun guy wants eventually. I have one Glock and (3) 1911's. |
