My girlfriend is thinking about purchasing a handgun for personal protection. She is going to school on the Kansas/Missouri border and wants the gun for protection incase she gets stranded in Kansas on her way home to Colorado. She is not yet 21, so getting a concealed carry license is out of the question. I know that in Colorado you can have a concealed handgun in your vehicle as long as you are in legal possession of the gun. I believe this means that you can have the handgun as long as you are over 18. I know Kansas is more strict on these issues, like the fact that the handgun must be unloaded and in clear sight. Are there any options for her to have a handgun in the vehicle with her while she is traveling?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Sorry for the double post, but I was wanting to get an answer as soon as possible.

I don't know about Kansas yet because they just got CC rolling.  You might want to check with the Kansas hometown forum.
