Today my wife got pulled over for expired plates.  (My fault since that's my job.)  As required by Ohio law, she informed the officer that she is a CCW holder, but was not carrying.  His first question was: what do you carry when you do.  She said SW 3953.  He seemed pleased and suggested she take care of the expired plate problem as soon as possible (which I did later in the afternoon).

I'm so glad you don't have to inform in VA.

The officer can still see you have a CCW permit when they run your license, but only one officer has ever asked me if I had a CCW due to the red flag on the computer.  I didn't at that time and told him so, and he said that's fine.

I have a fast car and get pulled quite a bit.

I got out of a speeding ticket and a expired inspection for having a CCL. All it cost me was about 20 minutes of gun B.S. with the officers. I'll take that anytime.

where does it say in VA statutes that you do not have to inform the LEO that you've got a CCW? or is this one of those "it doesnt say i can't, so i can" things, llike open carry?

In TN you do not to notify the officer.

Also in TN the State Attorney General has ruled...

1. It is a Carry Permit; you can open carry if you want.
2. The Police nor Sheriff can not ask you to remove it.
3. The Police nor Sheriff can not take your permit. Only State of TN can.
