Which would you carry? I was comparing them today. Normally carry mi S&w 1911ES, but now in the hot humid summer here in South Florida I switch over to the Glock. Also lately for some reason been feeling like a little more ammo would be nice to have.

Top left - S&W 1911ES. Light, thin, very accurate and reliable - 7+1 45acp
Top right - Sig P229R, mid weight, thick, very accurate and reliable - 15+1 9mm
Lower left - Glock 19, light, average thickness, accurate and reliable - 15+1 9mm
Lower right - S&W M&P Shield 45, very thin, very light and reliable - 6+1 45acp

My choice - 1st-1911ES, 2nd-Glock 19
Sig is thick and seems to print too much and M&P Shield seems too thin for me to shoot accurately for now. Need more training.

Out of those choices I would choose the G19.

Of course I'm biased towards the Glocks are my daily carry. G26 and G19 depending on what I'm wearing.

I rotate carrying. But I would take a 1911 out of the mix for low capacity, and the shield for its bad rust issues. (which leaves my two daily carrys 229r and G19)

Of those four, 1911 first, Shield second.

I don't own a SIG.

I have examples of the other brands.

My first pick would be the 1911, after I shot it enough to feel good about it's reliability and accuracy.

I've not had good luck with reliability or accuracy in an M&P and the Glock, while reliable, just never met my accuracy standards.

So, I'd be willing to put the SIG through the same reliability and accuracy ranges sessions as the 1911, to see if it could be a carry gun.

G19 or Sig 229 would be my choice.  Which do you shoot the best and like the most?

For me it was always a toss up between the 1911 and Glock 19. Both are about equally as easy to carry, well the 1911 was a tad easier. I just picked up a Shield 45 also and it's even easier to carry. So I vote Shield for those hot summer days.

Sig is heavy and bulky so that's last. I carry a Sig in a shoulder rig sometimes though and that's a good way to go with that gun, but it needs to be cool enough for a jacket.

I rotate between a full sized 1911, a beretta m9a1 compact, and a Glock 19. I like them all and shoot them all well.

Yep, I carry the Glock 19 for the summer mainly because of the sweating. Thjose hot humid days on the mototrcycle will leave the glock quite sweaty. Would not want to put the 1911ES through that. Even I keep them quite clean, I donm't want to find out. I know the Glock will not have issues at all.
The Shield is somewhat new, so I have to wait to put that through its paces before even thinking about carrying it. I have put about 100 rounds through it with no issues at all and did shoot it pretty decent, but not confident with it yet.
Sig is just way to bulky for me and for some reason I actually find my old P226 to "feel" less bulky. Don't know why. Either way, I guess I am lucky enough to have this kind of choice.
So Glock 19 in a Comp-Tac MTAC fir IWB and the Glock Sport holster for OWB. Hopefully get an Alessi CQC-S for it soon.

Decide which would be best in a time of need and carry that one.

Well I carry G32. I recently purchased the 45 Shield and 9 Shield. I have been carrying them. Mostly the 45 Shield. I left the 229 357sig to the ex wife. It was not easy to conceal and I got rid of all the big heavy 1911's years ago.

So all are a good choice.  As long as you are comfortable with them.

Glocks are actually pretty good pistols.

If I remember correctly, I think there was a thread talking about that once.

The 19 but I'd have to shave the finger grooves.

I would carry the 19 first and then the Sig next. I actually carried a 229 in .40 for many years and then switched to a G17. I preferred the Glock's higher capacity and somehow the G17 felt less cumbersome than the thick 229.

I carry a shield 9mm every day and love it, but Idk about a .45. In your situation, I would go G19 then 1911. Used to own a 229 and it was a great gun, but just too thick to carry.

It's summer, open carry and carry an extra magazine or Two?

I carry a Glock 30s, but prefer my 1911 overall, I figured at the average self defense distance the accuracy of the 1911 wasn't as beneficial as the extra ammo in the Glock 30s....but I don't shoot the 30s well so it may currently net me no benefit. *shrug* I know I feel more confident with the 1911 though.

Love the P229, but its just too big to conceal well. The 1911 is very easy to carry and I shoot it great along with the G19. Only issue I have with the 1911 is the capacity. Oh well. Lucky I have both and can choose.

The Sig. Better than the glock trash and more capacity over the 1911 and Shield.

Really? Is the "Glock trash" thing coming from vast reserves of experience or Sig fanboyism?

G19 then the Sig 229.  Been carrying the G19 the last 2 years and before that I carried the 229 for several years as it was my issued duty weapon.

Of your choices your 1911ES (by light I'm assuming scandium framed), followed by the Sheild then G19, SIG last.  I prefer .45 over 9mm.  All personal preference however.
