I see that Alien-Gear is now offering a steel core leather belt, has anybody tried these? What would you recommend, I know Wal-Mart belts suck, they will not hold up and the hardware bends. I carry a full size 1911 if you where wondering in a Alien Gear IWB3.0. Any advice would be welcomed.

I'd never buy his stuff, he's a grade A douche and has been banned from arf.

And best is subjective, all the local arfcomers here use http://www.thewilderness.com/ I've seen plenty of Gunsite and Independence instructors wearing them.

Ive been wearing the same Galco instructors belt (1.75" with a polymer stiffener inside) for almost 12 years. Before that it was Wilderness 5 stitch belts, but I was only getting a couple years out of them before the velcro on the tail was torn off. It's not the end of the world but I expected more out of their belts.

Daily wear doing construction (commercial formwork Carpenter doing parking garages and high rises mostly), I occasionally use the buckle as a tool tie off point if I need to secure a tool lanyard to something.   I bought a SOE belt year ago and it seemed well built, but the extra rappelling tie off point 5" away from the buckle didn't work out with the jeans I was wearing, wouldnt fit thorugh the belt loops, so I traded it.

I've considered looking at the cobra buckle models, but some of our fall protection harnesses at work have cobra buckles and they get jammed up with grit and dont work correctly, cant open them or can't get them to close and lock due to the levers being gummed up.

Live the beltman for everyday carry.

This and I also run a De Santis from time to time.

Good luck on your search.

I have a crossbreed and I got another for my wife.  Great belts.

If you would like to try one on the cheap, consider their Seconds website.  Both of the ones I bought looked perfect to me; I couldn't find a blemish on either one.  While you're there you can check out their seconds holsters too.

Ares Gear Aegis belt.... Worth every penny buy once cry once.  I have bought and wasted  a lot of money on different belts and this IMO is the best.  Quickly adjustable.... Loosen when you sit down in the car tighten when you need better tension and stiff so you do not get the sagging on one side problem.

I've never felt the need to venture beyond the Wilderness Instructor Belt, although I prefer the Frequent Flyer model. The nearly infinite adjustability and non-metallic buckle are great.

I like the Instructor Belt as well. I have 2 with the titanium buckle. I'm sending one back to Wilderness, this week, to have the Velcro replaced after 6 years.

I have a lot of leather belts by Sparks and Beltman but I just bought this recently https://www.daltechforce.com/gun-belts/strongest-gun-belt,biothane-belt,biothane-gun-belt,non-leather-belt,ccw-belt.

I'm using it with a Raven Concealment holster and carrier for my Sig 228.

I recently got a Mean Gene Leather Victory Aegis belt, and love it. It is a great alternative if you want an Ares buckle but leather belt. I can't imagine a belt having more quality that it, I'll be getting one of his simple belts too.

I have two instructor belts from The Wilderness, one steel, one titanium. They're very good belts, but they do have a tendency to pinch hairs if you don't tuck your shirt.

Ares Aegis. I wouldn't even consider a Wilderness anymore.

I also like a good leather belt when I want to look a little nicer.

My old Rafter-S belts are significantly better  than my new Beltman belt...

...but my two belts from Milt Sparks are what I will buy again.  Far and above the best of anything I've seen.

And why would anyone buy a non-leather belt for EDC? Vegan?  or maybe if I worked in water.

Unlike leather, nylon requires virtually no care. Unlike a leather belt with only a certain number of holes spaced at certain intervals, a nylon belt, like the Wilderness is infinitely adjustable. A nylon belt won't stain due to perspiration. There's a bout a million reasons, really.
