I used a Stormwerks hinge and tube adaptor. I forgot I had a AR pistol tube so rather than cut off the unneeded threads on a KAK tube I just used it instead and put the Shockwave on it.

It did not have detents but as a side folder is a "set and forget" proposition anyway I just drilled a shallow detent in it once I got it where I wanted it.

Old man strength and a long allen wrench finished forming the detent......It isn't going anywhere.

I finished it off with a "fat grip" as I prefer those on under/side-folders.

Nice job. The allen wrench detent maker was the route I took.

In a way you gave me the idea.....Of course I had to over-engineer it.

I did the same to a pap.  Mines angled.  I'm going to have to fix it.  Seeing all those done straight makes my OCD kick in...

Can anyone link the thread that details these steps of mounting the KAK and tube to an AK pistol?

..Or does anyone have pictures of this process?

Check out my build and parts rundown here (Scroll down to my second post): https://www.ar15.com/mobile/topic.html?b=4&f=98&t=160882

The stormwerkz shim is less than $20.  The wildbill is like $60. (if you need an angled shim)

For the install I just lined up the mount where I wanted it, marked the trunion, then drilled/tapped it with the appropriate size for the hardware that came with the folding mechanism.
