Quote History Quoted:Follow-up question: When the rifle is slung, isn't it better to have the folder to the right since you can grab the lower handguard with your left hand and unfold the stock with your right hand? It seems to flow well that way. I have used right-folding stocks for that reason, but I have another Yugo M92 SBR and can be convinced to get a left-folding stock.

Quote History Quoted:Quoted:Quoted:Yours folds to the left, correct? How did you decide which side you wanted it to fold to? I like the riser.
Yeah, it folds to the left. My rule of thumb with folders on AKs (when I have a choice) is that if it has an optics rail on the receiver and I intend to use it, I want it to fold to the right so I can leave the optic on when folding the stock. Any rifle that doesn't have an optics rail on the receiver gets a left folder. I prefer left folders, but have to take optics into consideration because I like to use them on a lot of my AKs.

That's a valid reason for a right folder. It's all about personal preference. I prefer left folders because they do not obscure or partially obscure the charging handle, selector lever, and mag release (in the case of my M85NP).
With a left folder, I grasp the handguard with my left hand and fold/unfold with my right, same as you with a right folder. I just hold the rifle far enough away from my body to allow the stock to swing. Left folders just work better for me and the way I use my AKs. Again, personal preference.
