(I have not done the front latch yet)    So I just removed the rear trunnion block PITA and drilled a few small holes in conjunction with the trunnion (these come with a folder trunnion installed)
then I used a dremel with a small stone wheel and hogged it out til close to the trunnion.
thennnnn used a small file set and took off material til I met the openings in the block.    It was much easier than I thought it would be.

The upper handguard came off a chinese or replica cheese grater gas tube that was damaged so I cut it to fit and welded to the tube in the same fashion it was welded originally.

Nice job!  You got lucky.  I had to pull the trunion on mine as the swing swivel would not come out

It was a pain getting the rear plate out !     here is my front latch progress.  I made a template out of a blak 74 receiver and mirrored it off a side folder receiver

That's genius. I have a factory Bulgarian receiver stub with the latch holes that I think I'll convert into a little jig like that.

The trick is to use a blank receiver and mirror the holes off a side folder receiver    if you just chop up a sidefolder receiver your holes will be 1mm off
