This would be very cool to get:
www.rusmilitary.com/html/c-deact_svd.htm
http://www.rusmilitary.com/images/svds.jpg

Too bad about the note at the bottom of the page:
USA MARKET: Due to the fact that deactivated rifles have a real receiver (gun part banned for importation into the US), we do not sell deacts to the US

And they do this to it also:
Deactivation specifications

- in place covered by plastic hand guards the barrel has 3 cross holes equal in diameter to caliber of the barrel
- the chamber is sealed by welding
- the bolt is cut at an angle
- the firing pin channel is welded
- the bolt locking lugs on the bolt and ledges on the receiver are removed
- the piston head of bolt carrier is filed off
- the magazine cartridge guides are removed to make loading impossible

Too bad as I was thinking about a dremel in the hands of a Brit bud to ship usable pieces. Rats.

Wow, I just used the currency converter. That is a little pricey! You could make a killing just selling off the parts though.

I have some deactivated AKs I bought from Russia (I am an AMerican GI in Germany so its ok). The Russians go overboard on their demill specs. About the only parts still usable are the barrel parts like gas chamber, etc the dust cover, recoil spring, and stock set. Everything else, has been welded or cut to be useless. They make nice wall hangers, but thats it. Anyways, the guy I buy from in Russia sells the SVD and SVDS for $700 and $800.

That price does us no good, we can't import them to the United States.
