Does any one have any idea how one might go about getting a 90 degree gas block on a SAR-2? I know that the gas port would have to be redrilled further back. What is a source for parts?

Try K-var. They are the largest supplier of these parts.  Be sure to order extra pins. they don't send extras when you order.

Is there a benefit to having a 90 degree gas block as opposed to the one that comes with the rifle?  Is it just for looks?

I never converted that part on my rifles, but I guess the 45 degree gas block that is on there is half way between the 45 and the 90 in its internal construction.

From what I understand, the 45 degree gas block would shear the jacket off the bullet degrading accuracy. I would also think it might be a preasure issue.

On the SAR-2, The gas block is 45 degrees but the tap hole in the bore is a perpendicular 90 degrees.

Stick a wire down the gas block and you can feel it for yourself.

I am not sure but you would need to mic the bbl and the 90 deg block. The Rom and Bulg 5.45 bbls have different o.d.s

Rots right, the hole ain't the issue, its the barrel diameter.

Ok my desire for the 90 degree gas block is for looks. The 45 degree block just doesn't look right on an AK 74 wanna be. Now I have been told theat Rom and Bulg barrels are the same diameter... Not true?
