All my guns are rust free, cleaned and oiled, all of them. Cleaning my Norinco underfolder underneath the rear sight it's just some slight rust. I brilloed and oiled but I may have to accept the fact that it is probably the oldest AK and even the least fired, the rest of the gun is flawless. Besides my SBR Krinks,  the Norinco underfolder 56S-1 is my trophy AK

My Norinco used to rust very easily, I eventually just had it refinished so I wouldn't have to worry about it any more. Mine is a post ban gun though so I didn't feel bad about refinishing it. At least it wasn't the receiver or barrel in your case, the sight leaf is possible to replace with another correct one if it's pitted.

I oiled the shit out of it and lifted the sight to max range. It's not pitted...yet
