Got tired of waiting for Arsenal to do a SLR-104CR so I made my own.  Picked up another gently used 104FR locally a couple weeks ago.  I've had the gas block for a year or so now.

Basic black:

Woody:

Going to wait to pin it until I shoot it to make sure the sights are straight.  It's on there pretty tight, so not worried about it shooting off.  Temporary pin to hold the detent/spring in.

If I had a factory 104FR and wanted to convert to a CR, what parts would I need to purchase? Sorry, lots of ARs but I'm new to AKs...

Or, if this is common, could I send it to a reputable smith and just ask for this conversion? Thanks.

All you will need is a Bulgarian gas block / front site block combination, a Bulgarian AK105 booster and a 500m rear sight leaf. The Bulgarian hardware is slightly different than the Russian so be sure you know which is which.
And yes you definitely should send it to a reputable smith

I call BS.  Arsenal Bulgaria is going full steam to supply conflict zones.  Introducing new models to the civilian market is not, and has never been, a priority.

What model AKs Arsenal will bring in this year is a longime parlor game among AK guys.

I hope I'm wrong.  I would have been about the SLR104UR a few years ago...

I'm pretty sure that Ruskies and Americans are the only people that care about 5.45.

With the lack of 7.62 stamped guns coming in, it stands to reason that they would put some focus on 5.45.

It's pretty widespread among former Eastern Block Countries.  Very prevalent in the Ukranian conflict.

Interesting, I was under them impression that they ditched 5.45 after the collapse.

Almost all the photos I have seen of Ukrainian troops show them using plum fixed stock 74's or laminate rifles
