What is involved in attaching a scope rail to the side of an AK?

Does it have to be rivited, or can screws be used?

Parallel to the top rail is the key.  I installed mine on a 74 series build.  Start by squeezing the rear rivet.  Then I used an adjustable carpenters square to square up the rail to the top rail.  mark the front hole,  Drill and re check. Drill center hole, finish riveting.
