I saw an ad on a website claiming that some new law would prevent the importation of any barrels or receivers of any firearm that would otherwise be illegal for importation- essentially meaning, no more AK kits. Is this true, and is it being enforced?

Yes, it is as of January. The recievers couldn't be imported before anyhow, just the barrels are banned now. If a US mfg. started making barrels the rest of the parts can still be imported. This does not effect rifles like the WASR though, because they come in and are modified to accept high cap mags.

Kits still being imported without reciever (as before) and now without barrels. Everything else is coming in.
